Went and picked my mount up yesterday from my buck that I killed in early November. I got him done by Brian Knight (Knight's Taxidermy) in Clinton, OH. He is the current State and National taxidermy champion, and let me tell you, his skill shows in his work! I am so incredibly please with this mount. Brian is a cool guy to talk to, and I would recommend him to ANYONE on this site. Well, enough blabbin, here's some pics (which don't to this mount any justice!)

Some pictures from his shop off of my cell phone, which REALLY don't do these things justice!

Customer pieces:

Show pieces (very little difference between the customer vs. show pieces, something he prides himself on!)

The State and National Championship winner, very impressive in person. Truly an art!

Looks good matt!

With the information I know about mounting deer, that last one is PHENOMENAL!!!!!! To be able to get the veins and the jaw muscles to shot like indicates a ton and I mean a ton of work! Not just in the form, but work to the hide itself! I gurantee and pickled and fleshed that hide more than 2 times. To get those lines to show tells me he had that hide paper tin, which is phenomenal! THat is awesome!

That is a great looking mount Matt. That is some great work that he does. Just out of curiosity what did it cost you?

$350 is his referral price, I got his name from jbrown here. I think he runs like $425 for cold calls. A little higher than some of the average, but not that much higher, particularly considering the attention to detail.

The mount looks good Matt. Is that a semi-sneak position with a slight turn?

The deers neck doesn't appear to be swollen much for being killed the first week of November......was he not heavily in the rut yet when you shot him or does that mount style just not show off the neck?

Either way it's a good looking deer, especially for the price.

I think the neck measurement he said was 21". Probably just the way the pictures make it look. He was pretty rutted up when I shot him, but he is also not an incredibly old buck so it wouldn't be as big as some older bucks.

Great looking mount, Matt. I'm glad you are happy with the way it turned out. That Brian sure can talk your ear off can't he? lmao

I'd say your buck will net around 134 after deducting the g-4 on his right side. Any buck netting in the 130's as an 8 is a real good buck! Congrats Matt! His beams are the hardest to judge but he's got to be in the 23 inch range..........am I close? LOL
