About to call it quits for the morning on this piece of private when my shooter comes stumbling over this hill! Stayed at 65 yards and paralleled me as he walked through the bench and down towards food from his bedding. Ended up cutting down wind of me and caught ground scent of a doe that was in there and shot up the hill.... gone! That fast. Hasn’t come back

Gun season 99 Monday or Saturday every sq mile had a hunter sitting as daylight broke. Shots rang out in every direction. If there wasn't a hunter in a woods lot it wasn't long before it was getting pushed. Pin ball deer running all day. 21 years later 50 percent of the counties deer harvest has taken place before the opener. Heard One shot Monday morning and 3 shots today(10 30am). Very few hunters occupie the woods at daylight. Gun season has lost some luster here anyways...ask the few groups that are out driving deer that have basically free range to roam say it's just not the same with lack of hunters...out of snacks, slow walk back to the house done for the day.
1deer before daylight 2coyotes to far to shoot.

Those group hunts is what got me hooked as a kid. Everyone talking to each other about what they saw and what they killed. No secrets or hiding anything. Back when everyone was proud to be a gun hunter.

Just purchased my last deer tag and early this afternoon, I talked to the landowner of the property that I'll be huntin tomorrow for the first time this season up in Fairfield Co. He said that his place is just full of deer and the other day he counted 26 them during daylight and some had antlers within the group, which is great news!

So, I'm currently loading up my pickup truck now with the 'Lone Wolf Alpha Stand', pop-up ground blind and a couple of TCs. I'm gonna make it a whole day out of it once again with the old shotgun on a property that I absolutely enjoy, along with the fact that I'm still proud of being a gun hunter too btw.

To say I'm looking forward to it would be putting it mildly to say the very least!
