Gun Season 2020

Broke for lunch at the truck at noon and back in the tree again at 1:00 p.m. sharp.
No more deer sightings yet and just a few shots heard much further North of me around 10:30 a.m.
I noticed when in the tree earlier, there's a healthy tree rub right underneath me that I did not notice when setting up way earlier this morning in the dark.

It's like 10 yards away, right along the cornfield back edge. It's also the only one I've found during my noon break in very close proximity.
I do expect to see more deer make their way to this cornfield during prime time. There are a ton of fresh deer tracks althroughout it, including big ones, very big ones!
Anyhow, I also dropped my eye glasses somewhere, not to be found just yet. I had them just before I climbed down, and now they are nowhere to be found. My only draw back thus far today. Hopefully my flashlight will put a nice glare on them after quitting time. I have an extra pair at home so, no major crisis. Just need them to read mainly.

Did a hang and hunt. Landowner drove me back on his Gator and cut up some downed trees while I hung set to create a distraction of my noise. Hopefully pique curiosity of deer too. Once I was settled in he drove away. Always thought this would be a killing setup. Winds are right. Hoping I don't get cold from sweating. Even though I layered down, I got sweaty swamp feet. Eh. Less than 3 hrs to hunt. I love this stuff. Good luck all!
Out in search of the injured doe. Needle in the haystack, but I think I know whic haystack to search first.

Against my better judgement, I climbed down earlier than normal this morning (prior to 10:00 am). Once I got to my truck I took a drive around the block to see who was hunting. Sure enough, once I get to the next county road over, I see 5 does trotting across the back side of my wheat field... right where I was sitting this morning. Then to add insult to injury, my neighbor texted me at 2:00 saying she saw 6 more does run along my south property line... again in range of my stand. Lol
Now I’m back out here hoping for redemption. I’m coming up empty searching my memory bank, so I’m pretty certain I’ve never killed a deer from a ground blind. I’m gonna try to pop that cherry tonight.

Last minute deer on the last day. Just dropped a doe in her tracks at 142 yards.
No deer were harmed in the making of this adventure.

That's a wrap!! did some driving on the last day noon till almost last call. Saw some deer, but I didn't have anything close and most the spots have been hit hard already. Going to stop thinking deer for a week. Going to go squirreling cut firewood, then get ready for 2nd gun law and think about muzzle loader.
Slight correction... button buck. And 144 yards.

Today's hunt:
Four antlerless first thing in the a.m. approximately 100yrds. away. That was it for the entire day with regards to deer. No antlered deer seen.
The good news: I found my eye glasses within the cornfield while on my way out after packing everything up.
IDK when I'll do my next hunt yet. Have to catch up on things around the house first. Perhaps by mid-week. We'll see.
I'm just glad I was able to get at least one good deer gun harvest accomplished during gun week.
Homeward bound now, headed straight down the highway.

I killed a baby. She is going to be mighty tender.
That picture says it all!!! Congratulations....Brother in law and I did a push this morning and this one jumped out. I Made a a shot around 75 yard with the 350. Hit him in the heart and went 100. My son was with me and seen it all. He was so happy.

@Wildlife are you running 3 long sticks? And screw ins? You’re way up there. I’m interested in switching from Summit Climber to hang on and sticks. Any advice? TIA
Lived here 13 years. Neighbor 39 acres was clear cut and sold. It has completely changed the deer movement, and the new owner hunts too, previously no pressure on any neighboring property. Hiked to back of my place to find some monster rubs with a scrape line along the oak flat between clear cut and very thick stuff on my place. I haven’t hunted it much this year because it’s really hard to get into without bumping deer. Check out this picture:
I am going to have to re assess my strategy I guess, still trying to learn this hunting game.
