Jon- You just made my day! Congratulations!

I headed back in. Never saw a deer. Heard 2 different rounds of fire from different directions. Both sets of shots a good ways off. Garrett wants to hunt tonight. I am way more excited about taking him out than I am about getting myself a deer. Going to get some work done. Going to confirm with a couple buddies who hunt the neighboring property whether they are hunting or not. If not, i am taking Garrett in on a 6pt mission! If they are hunting. . . .Still taking him somewhere. Just not sure exactly where yet.

Much slower this morning, 4 does so far. My hunting buddy shot a yote this morning that was actually chasing a yearling. Weather is way too nice

Jon.... Congrat's on the buck... Sounds like you guys are having a slow season.. Earlier this month I drove through Ohio on my way to Illinois.. I did not see a single dead deer on Rte. 80 for the entire stretch... I thought that was very strange for a quality deer hunting state such as Ohio during the rut. Good Luck the rest of the season....

That's what happens when the herd isn't what it once was. I've only seen one dead deer on route 30 this year, usually see 4-5 by now.

Still plenty of bucks with one thing on their mind. I'm sure it could be effective in right circumstance.

Given the wrong circumstances, you could call in more hunters then anything else, and that could end badly.

As many of you know this is our first Ohio deer season at our new camp. Since it borders WNF, I was expecting to see an orange army shredding what few deer remain into a million pieces. I was really shocked at how quiet it was though. Yes there was some shooting especially in the morning, but I didn't see any orange except for the neighboring private landowners that park within sight of the stand we were in. Even though we were on our land we could see a ways out into WNF. Really expected to see some hunters and never heard a shot in the hollow that we are in.

It was very slow for us yesterday. We sat all day in the 1 stand and didn't see a deer until about 4:00 and it was a doe. My son saw another deer at 4:30 running behind us and was pretty sure it was a doe. Today we did some walking on WNF and kicked up a buck that went down over the hill across the road and did get shot at, but I think missed. There were 3 guys hunting there, but they were all within 50 yards of the road. Never got a good look at it, but I am pretty sure I got a couple of glimpses of antler. I know it wasn't big though. We packed it in about 9:30 to come back to PA. Going to take the youngest daughter out there in a few minutes to hopefully get her buck tag filled. Gun season up here is buck only now until Saturday. Probably won't go back to Ohio until the late gun season.
