One word. Unprecedented. If I would have known how lucky I was to pick up 200 rounds at RK last week I might not have shot most of them. I went to RK, Dunhams, Meijer, and WM in house to find some. Nothing. Plenty of shotgun ammo and some rifle like 30-06, 6.5, and 450 but you might as well forget about pistol ammo. When I got home I just decided that I would suck it up and pay shipping in a 500rd case. Ha! Yeah right. No kidding just about every online retailer is sold out of pretty much everything except high end self defense ammo. On about page 5 of Google I finally found some in stock that wasn't a price gouge price and placed the order. It turned out to be a regular gun shop in temps AZ with an online store. I called as I was curious about shipping times and he said it would ship by the end of the week. Usually they ship with 24 hours but he has over 500 orders that need shipped and has people working nights to keep up. 500 Orders in processing status!

I went and pulled the NICS numbers. June isn't out yet.

Here was the case at Wal-Mart.

I don't think this is gun owners buying guns because they're panicking about a ban. These appear to be first time gun buyers saying "I need a gun just give me one of whatever you have left"

It's astounding. And scary. On one hand, pro-2A folks are looking at those stats and thinking of the massive "new" support for owning personal firearms. On the other hand, think of the blowback when all these new gun owners make ignorant and irrational decisions with their guns.

I've been surprised by the empty shelves for a lot of items, not just guns. Weeks ago I drove around to 5 different stores looking for a few packs of Sure Jell... Nada. Last week I went to 3 different rural kings and 1 Ace Hardware looking for a couple conibear 220's... nada, sold out. The other day I wanted to buy a new nozzle for my garden hose and a sprinkler... NADA! The whole fugging aisle of sprinklers and hose nozzles was completely barren! What is going on?!?!? Swimming pools, ATV's, campers, and on and on and on... can't find any of them.

Check out ammoseek.com. I've had good results finding what I can't find local. It's basically an ammo search engine.

Some of that is due to china being closed earlier. A supply chain being down isn't instant and will take a couple of months to impact shelves and factories here in the US who rely on parts etc. So while China may be back up and running those containers still have to sail over, make customs, hit wholesalers, get to warehouses, then dispersed to the point of sale resellers.

How many of the items “out of stock” are because the manufacture is shut down? Have you seen local car dealerships?

Or, is this exactly what happens when you flood the market with “free money”?

I always buy in bulk because I get free shipping when I do through https://www.targetsportsusa.com/

I just received today my most recent order which was placed on 6/18.

I have found that this company sells my preferred WIN .308 ammo the cheapest than anywhere else, which is the Federal Gold Metal Sierra MatchKing 168 grain and the Liberty Animal Instinct Supersonic 100 grain. I buy other rounds through them for my other guns as well, however they're currently sold out. They'll send me an email as soon as they get it in.

Another 200 rounds added to my stockpile today and a new Magpul D-50 drum magazine.

I haven't stopped buying bulk amounts of ammo each month since right before the pandemic hit. One never feels like you have enough, especially with all the crazy shit that's going on right now in this country and throughout the world for that matter...

Some of it could be due to the manufacturer shut down here in the US too.

If you see a car dealership closed I would never shop there again. The only reason they are closed is they have enough in the bank that they've made a business decision to close instead of selling inventory at record low prices. They've calculated that if they close and try to hold inventory they will lose less in the long run than selling it now.

it’s everything. I
Wanted to replace my fridge. Of 25+- display units at Lowe’s,
Only 2 were in stock. Over 15 days to order and get one in. No floor display sales. Home depo ; 20+ Display and no in store for sale. 2 local mom and pop places- same deal. Also same problem with stoves and I would guess any other mgr appliance. Looks like another summer with little fun time shooting and holding what you have for “emergencies”.

I've been running into shortage of ammo for a few months now. Not only has it been a problem finding ammo for the 9mm and .380 factory ammo but reloading bullets are gone as well. I looked up about 4 reloading companies and they are all out of stock and no backorder available either. I have cases, powder, and primers but does me no good without bullets lol. Guess I need to start casting my own.

Couple weeks ago I ran across some .380 at Sportsman's Stop and some 9mm at Sportsman's Den but it's far and few between.

I was on there earlier and couldn't find anything under 40c a round which is crazy for 9mm. I went back and checked ammoseek after you posted and some came in stock on ammoempire. Picked up 1k rounds of sellier and belliot brass cased for a good price, free shipping and a 24 hour ship guarantee. 👍

Ive been focusing on buying any reloading components I can find. The classified sections of hunting/gun/shooting forums can be productive in this. Just picked up 4lbs of CFE223 for 80.00. Also picked up a pound of RL 15. Ive got plenty of other components. Now its just a matter of finding a load the guns like.

Been like this for months and Walmart quit selling handgun ammo about a year ago when everyone else jumped on the wagon after one of the shootings. And here locally they took the guns off the shelf’s during the riots.
