And with a lot less moving parts will last longer than most any semi auto
and are inherently more reliable and simpler to operate for people who have never fired, or perhaps even ever handled a gun. no safety, no mags. load, point and pull trigger.
A friend was asking me about a handgun for home protection. My first suggestion was a revolver for all the reasons you guys mentioned.
If you had a revolver, semi auto pistol and a home defense shotgun at hand - what would you grab in a home defence intrusion situation

I agree. He has a shotgun already. He wants a handgun.
Hypothetically speaking..... What if you had multiple of all three? Loaded and strategically placed throughout the home?
How close are neighbors? A shotgun at home defense ranges has a pattern about the size of a half dollar so don't think you can't miss with one. Asked about neighbors because with handguns or rifle that bullet will go through and through. If I made a shot down the hallway and missed that bullet is going to end up in the neighbors house. Hell if I connected it still could go through.
Sitting in front of camera console with claymore clickers in hand, that's the ideal home intrusion scenario
No neighbors close, handguns and rifles all have home defense/ballistic tip ammo....

Yes it a very good point - the AR also a very poor choice for intrusion defense- btw a shoot gun makes a good club and you old military guys know how parry and thrust
