J... Today's cell service sucks... I'd never trust them... Alot of the areas I hunt here in Jersey I cannot put out a cell camera or even use my cell phone.. NO SERVICE.. I've never had a problem finding my way around in the woods, but my son keeps bugging me: What do you want for Xmas... So thought why not put the compass away and go with today's generation of navigating...I haven’t used a handheld GPS per say, but wouldn’t your phone with the onyx app be about the same? Used in conjunction with google earth?
Nick... Which Garmin.... Without breaking the bank..Garmin is what we use. It will keep you on the trail within 7-9’. HuntStand and onx will get you close but nothing like a real gps unit. Why not use both?
You don’t always need cell service with OnX. When I know I’m going on a trip, I download an area I designate onto my phone… then I can use OnX when I’m on airplane mode. The GPS receiver doesn’t require cell service to be operative.J... Today's cell service sucks... I'd never trust them...
