Yum yum getcha some boys. What a haul down here at a local hole in the wall. Blantons 68 bucks. 12 year weller was 40 and the Elijah barrel proof was 44.

Been enjoying the Johnnie Walker Black for my last couple bottles. Mixed it up tonight. Trying something different. Son in law is sampling it with me tonight. I've never had Weller before. The guy said they used to get this every six months. They are getting it about once a month now. Must be popular? I'm not sure how this works in regards to shipments. I don't need to buy a bottle very often.

Good bourbon, not great, not amazing but we get it and other states do not so I use them to trade for more desirable bourbons (imo). It's the cheapest of the Weller line up which are all cheated bourbons so that imparts a different flavor than a straight corn or rye'd bourbon.

What do you think of it? Did you enjoy it?

As stated before: I do NOT have a very sophisticated pallet. It wasn't bad. I enjoyed the Johnny Walker Black more, but not so much that I'll stuff it in the back of the fridge and buy something different. It won't go to waste. Truthfully, I'm not sure if know the difference between good high end stuff and average stuff. 🤣

This is my opinion and worth what you paid for it. The more expensive stuff isn't necessarily better than the cheaper stuff. There is a different price for higher proof points, barrel proof and higher age statements as with those the distiller isn't getting as many bottles as with other options. Or you're paying extra for different wood finishes, or barrel finishes.

To use a more well known brand, there are many types of Blantons; normal, straight from the barrel, gold, black, and special releases from Europe and Japan. This covers $75-$300+ in the price spectrum. the only one I can reliably tell apart is the SFTB because the high proof is noticeable. I can't reliably tell the difference between the highest cost ones and Ancient Ancient Age 10 star (same mash bill, same rickhouse, but a different level) which is a sub $30 bottle of you can find it because the flavors are SO similar.

Drink what you like, collect and enjoy what you like. Freddie Noe of Jim Beam is quoted as
His dad said, “Never save Bourbon when sharing with friends and family.” “There will always be more bourbon. We are the fragile part of this equation.” Freddie went on to say, “It's not about the whiskey, it's about the lives you touch and the people you meet and the whiskey is a by-product of a good relationship.”

Don't know when I'll be going through Ohio again.... But if anyone wants Blanton's I'll see what I can do with my connection here... Was able to get it over the summer for. $100.00 a bottle... Maybe we can work something out...

Time for the instant replay...
So there I was cruising along at 35,000 ft. eager to get back to the North Pole as I got a notification that Mrs Clauses Victoria Secrets order was delivered... All of a sudden just as we are passing over Three Rivers Stadium Rudolf jams on the brakes and puts us in a dive eventually landing on the side line... Turns out that with less than a minute to go Cincy was on Pittsburgs 2 yd. line driving for the win.. Coach Cowher comes over and asks if I could go in for a play...Rudolf gives me that look and I agree.. So the ball is snapped and Mean Joe Greene forces a fumble as it rolls into the end zone I pick it up and scamper 105 yds crossing the goal line just as time expires... There sitting in the end zone was not one but 8 bottles of hard to find Blanton's...

Ok back to reality... Two members responded earlier asking me to pick them some Blanton's if I could... One wanted a case (6 bottles) the other person wanted 2 bottles.. So I went to my contact today and as luck would have it he just got a Xmas delivery... In it was Two cases of Blanton's... 12 bottles.... I bought 8.... It's Xmas I had to leave 4 bottles for his regular customers... I took him some venison steaks and a piece of Pepper Jack breakfast sausage... Now for the good part he only charged me $75.00 a bottle... Last time it was$100.00 a bottle which everyone thought was great.. So MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE TWO TOO MEMBERS...
