Hicks Lawn Services truck racing

Sort of just sucked last night. New track (for everybody not just me.) Figuring it out. Setup was off. Track was slick. Tried some stuff. Didn't work. Tried a completely different driving style for the feature. Was better but not pleased with myself or the setup. That's part of the game. Started fifth in the feature. Got trapped on the bottom while the field was driving by me on the outside. Just couldn't merge to get up where I wanted to be. Think I dropped to 7 or 8th. Finally got off the bottom as the field stretched out. Picked my way thru the field. Finished 4th. Was not much passing in any class. The hard charger award in the sprint cars only passed 3 cars in a 45 lap feature. So to pass 4 in a 20 lap feature is my silver lining. Need to take notes. Watch the video. Do my homework. Do better at our next race there.

This track has a 1/2 mile track with a 1/4 mile track inside of it. We ran the short track. At one point I exited the corner, launched the berm, stayed in the throttle, and passed a guy on the straight away of the big track just to get around him. 🤣

Sounds like you’re having fun! You said something about Oak Shade maybe this year? I would definitely be over to see you for that race.

Oakshade never out us on the schedule. I believe the promoter of our series spoke to them. Not sure how the scheduling gets determined. Probably mostly a decision of the track.

Started 6th in the heat race. Finished 3rd in the Warriors Way 17 truck.

Started 5th in the feature. Pretty tight racing early with a lot of guys looking good tonight. Was running 5th when a guy in front of me spun. I dipped to avoid him and someone collected me from the rear which spun me. This sent me to the tail with I think 5 or 6 laps to go. That pissed me off. Drove back up to 4th.

Truck had some significant changes between races. Overall pleased with the handling. Need to keep squeezing whatever I can out of the motor and continue to improve a little every race.

Will be back at Limaland in one week. We will have a Dirt Track Truck Series points race and the top six in points will compete in the King of the Quarter Mile race upon completion of the main features.

When I said "collected me" maybe I should have said "ass packed". Might need to build a new bumper. Don't think I can pull this out.

Narrowly avoided the wall. Got in the loose stuff up top when I backed out of it. Lost traction. Lost a spot to a guy running lower. Looking for a way around him when the 13 truck spun. I'm not bashing but I sometimes wonder how far out some of these guys look. I saw that spin happening and was dropping down to avoid it. The guy behind me couldn't have seen much farther ahead of his truck than the bumper. Great guy. Just wish he had a bit more awareness in this situation. He did come over and apologize after the race. Stuff can change fast out there. One minute the top six are in a tight group. The next you are going to the tail for a restart.

Last Friday was Limaland. Sort of an off night for me. Not horrible. Just didn't have my head in the game like I should have. I've been sick. Truck was leaking oil pretty bad. Spent a lot of time looking at the gauges instead of driving the wheels off it. Started 3rd in the feature and finished 4th. At one point I was 6th so I'm feeling okay about clawing my way back thru the field. This class is getting tougher every week. We've had a few guys really step it up. It's good for the crowds. Tough if you're on the track. Solid racing taking place. 18 trucks there so I guess I should be pleased with 4th.

Next we had the King of the Quarter Mile 10 lap shoot out for the top 6 in points. Drew numbers for starting position. I started in the anus of the field. Moved up to 4th. Put in some good laps. Battled with fifth place until he broke. Finished 4th. (I was in front of him when he broke.)

This Friday (Aug 8) is going to be an awesome show at Millstream up in Findlay. They have a 4/10ths mile track and and a 1/4 mile track. We race the small track along side the midgets. They have Sprint cars AND late models on the big track. Truly something for everyone. I anticipate a big crowd and a good show. Season is winding down so if you want to see a race this might be it. We have one more scheduled Aug 23 at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe but I'm not sure if they will still be open by then. Track drama has been taking place with a couple classes choosing not to race there anymore. We shall see if they can keep the lights on or not.

The 10 truck won King of the Quarter Mile. One of the trucks in the other pic won the main feature. I battled them the best I could. You're looking at roughly 600 feature wins between the two of them. The 22T picked up win 410 (or maybe 411?) that night.
