Home Schooling your kids?

My son is only 2 so no classes are going on at home. But, for kids of ALL ages, this is a great and somewhat rare opportunity to really teach them about the outdoors and nature. One bright side to all of this is the timing... it’s spring time, and with that comes vernal pools, wood frogs, salamanders, mushroom hunting, prime fishing spots, birds and waterfowl of all shapes and sizes... sights and sounds aplenty! Utilize this unique opportunity to teach your kids about the natural world! And like John said, about everyday things like maintenance, and cooking, and chores, and preparations!

Completely agree JB! Ty snagged him a crawfish the other day, he's been drawn to the crick since. Besides the flash flooding earlier this week, there's no keeping him out and it's great to see.

Jesse, have at it. But I think we already a couple dozen of those specific threads lmao. This was about home schooling....nice work Dave.

That's awesome @5Cent Adam! Good to hear he's ate-up with it already. Might be a future biologist or water quality professional in the making!

Then I have wife working from home talking on phone as I’m trying to explain some shit like this to my kid. 1st grade

After about two hours of sitting at a table I read this and get frazzled like what the fugg does this got to do with life. I mean really. I’m thinking do you understand what ya just read? Yeah dad . Well good. WTF ....

Or after the two hour mark. You open something up read it and have no clue wth they/the lesson is even talking about. So your frazzled ready for a walk/beer But before ya do. It’s right there staring you in the face and your kid is actually paying attention you realize your not as smart as a first grader.🤬🤬🤬 😂😂😂😂

I’ve been out of school over 25 years. I’m not going to lie I have had to look some things up. 😣😣🥴

Also how these kids are taught math is way different than how I was taught. Lucky my kid likes my way better. Yet how will my way affect the way teachers teach now? When he goes back next year?

As far as trades go Vs degrees I’m not going to touch that. There’s things I can do that people with degrees can’t and the same goes with there’s things people with degrees can do that I can’t.
Bottom line we all do it to put food on the table at the end of the week. Everything past that is just our own bullshit!🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍻🍺🍺🍺

I don't even try with my boys homework. I tell my wife all the time the question is either incomplete or more than one answer is correct 😫

Today's math😡🖕

School just called and said they’re changing lessons here. They will be making things like science outdoor projects and such. Learning things just like talked about here. I love this small community!

My kid goes to private school. They just want another check!🥴😂. He’s had one video conference since school closed that was two days ago. So he gets all dressed up puts on his favorite red tie. Basically the video was so he could see his other classmates. Well video comes on he’s looking around, first question he asks is where is Jena? 😂😂 proud dad moment!!

So far I caught one. Kids not reeled one in yet but the bite he had was definitely a bigger fish than the one I caught. He says. 😂 So he’s leading to great lessons right now. How to fish and how to bullshit!

Bite is slow.

I seen a meme the other day that said something along the lines of all you educated people are sitting at home while the trades keep the world turning.

It takes all of us, I know that. I’m not picking on anyone or putting anyone above anyone else. But education isn’t everything. You still need the dumb grunts.

A couple of years ago I noticed that almost everyone I seen driving before 0600 hrs had on high viz shirts. The last 2 weeks, that is all I’ve seen.

Those of you able to be home while still supporting your family should be thankful. Some of us still get up and drive into work. I am thankful to still have a job as many are out of work wondering what they will do next month. We will get past this folks. It will take every one of us to come out of this on top though. Do what you need to do to take care of those closest to you. Times are gonna get tough and everyone’s battle will be different. Just stand proud by your choice and make things happen.
I completely agree.
I tell all my students to learn trades and not go to college unless they are going for free or going to cure cancer lol. Only reason I went is because it was free, I would have learned a trade if it werent for football. I work construction during my summer break. If it were up to me I would completely restructure our current education system and put myself and many other colleagues out of jobs. But that argument belongs in another thread
