Welcome aboard. As stated above, you are in the right spot. Pull up a chair and join in. Scroll through the forums, ask questions, you get the answers you need, not just the ones you want.

Welcome. What these guys said will help immensely. Tell us about yourself: age, ambitions, hobbies, etc. Finding the right person as a mentor is the key. Help out in your community, attend church and social functions. Meet people and you will eventually find someone with similar interests. Finding a mentor is like finding the right girl. Maybe more important.

I will also add that you should expect some bashing from Dustin and Sgt for your punctuation. Take it with a grain of salt for best results. 
There’s a wealth of knowledge on the internet. Good and bad. Find some trusted sources (TOO.com) is a great start. What county are you in? That‘ll help narrow down and will help give you some ideas. It’s never too late too start but trying too start in the beginning of the season will hamper you a little. But if you do your homework you’ll be surprised at how it pays dividends.

Best thing about this forum, in my experience: you can ask any question and get honest answers and not be criticized. I was on a forum for Georgia, and they were the biggest, most arrogant, holier than thou assholes. They would criticize you for not shooting a big enough deer, making a mistake, question your ethics if you didn't do what they do, yadda yadda yadda. You may get your balls busted, but you can give it right back... and I have yet (my fault for what it's worth) to meet anyone from this forum face to face. Great group around here.

Welcome!! Finding a mentor in your area is a good idea but not necessarily a must do. Plenty of guys on here you can get advice from, it's just having someone local helps make it more fun and help when you both need it.

Welcome to TOO. Great bunch of people here. I'm sure we can help you out. What do you want to know? And what county (or general area) are you located? It is the Internet so I understand hesitancy. Central Ohio or Northwest Ohio or something similar would work too. You could give a region like that to make it more vague.
Im 20 years old, I have some small game hunting experience have gone squirrel hunting a few times and my ambitions for the season are just to learn as much as I can and fill the freezer if possible!
If you realistically want to "fill the freezer" squirrel hunt every day and learn what you can about deer along the way. That isn't a joke. There is a tutorial on here somewhere about how to clean a squirrel.

If it is deer you want to learn to hunt there are a few main things to conquer.
1) know your weapon and become intimate and efficient with it.
2) become as scent free as possible. This is a lifestyle during the season not a quick spray down before you head out.
3) spend as much time in the woods as possible with the intent to observe wildlife. Don’t go into it with the “must kill” mentality. A lesson can be learned from watching every critter out there. Killing will happen with time and experience.

You can't beat a deers nose. Hunt the wind every time. If you don't understand this, we can break it down.
Do you understand thermals? This is real important if you plan to hunt terrain features.

sorry for the late reply but I already have a bow and I have been practicing for the past month and a half and I have the Basic things I need to hunt and I will be Hunting public land I do have a good amount of backpacking and orienteering experience so I’m not afraid of going into the deeper parts of woods and i don’t really have a limit of how far I’m willing to drive In the state
