If you archery hunt in Colorado you will also need an archery certificate
Last time I was out there I was able to buy my elk and mule deer archery tags but could not buy a small game license because I did not have my regular certificate and small game could be hunted with a gun

When I took my course in NY, it included each of them at the time. It was both lecture and field tests. Archery, trap, fur, waterfowl, small game & big game rifle.

You got me thinking... So I looked where I last saw it and it was there. Dated 12/04/65... Damn where have the years gone... I've hunted Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, and New York... Always just produced a prior license from another state..

That's what I did in Arkansas and Texas. Just produced a hunting license at the counter and I was good to go.

I don’t have mine. I’ve hunted in several other states that have asked for the number, and I just enter a date (the approximate date I passed the course) and have not had one single hang up. This is not that big of a deal.

Arizona asked and I did the same. I figured if push came to shove and I had to prove it I would go through the trouble of getting Mississippi to send it to me. Well if they don't have it then that makes me a little more uncomfortable.

I believe Ohio offers the course completely over the internet now if you are 18 or 21 my wife will be taking it here soon. I also know that if you over 18, you can go to a ODNR branch and take the test without sitting through the class. My little cousin did just that like 10 years ago when he got a ticket for having a license without taking the course. Judge fined him 10 dollars and told him to bring back a copy of the passed exam in 30 days, following Friday he drove to Findlay and took the exam.

Since I have future plans of hunting Colorado annually until I can't hunt anymore, I'm going to adhere to the letter of Colorado's law.

The following information is right off the official 'Colorado Parks & Wildlife' website. The hunting license application and brochure are more thorough and specific.

I will be calling them prior to sending in my Colorado hunting license application just as an added measure and peace of mind, making sure I have everything in order.

"Hunter Education: Were you born on or after January 1, 1949? If so, you must have a valid hunter education card/certificate before you apply for or purchase a hunting license. You'll also need a hunter education card before applying for a preference point.

Your hunter education card/certificate and the appropriate license(s) must be in your possession while hunting. See Hunter Education for test out options, apprentice license opportunities, and more information."

No age restriction for online. My daughter did it this past year all online.

Took my hunter Ed with my boys. My age has me exempt here in the bayou state. I’ve never had a problem till last year hunting in Missouri. Purchased my bow tags and was good to go. You can go online or somewhere who sells them. I was on my second trip and we stayed for the rifle season. No big deal, it was 9 pm and we were in Iowa. Went online and tried to get my rifle tag for Missouri. Couldn’t do it online because someone actually has to see my card....wtf? Or I could email a photo copy and be issued a tag after someone verified it....yeah right. Ended up driving to a liquor store in Missouri at 10 pm to get my tag. Crazy.

I also got my bow hunter safety card years back when the nwr required it. Bout everything is rubbed off it by now.

after reading this I figured I better check on mine, too. right where I left them. last time I saw these was when I hunted Colorado back in 1996. fuck me running, I'm getting old. (n) I wonder if these pics of the cards would suffice in place of a duplicate from the state? I took pics of both sides so I could keep these on the computer in case I might ever need replacements. both of these spent a few years in my wallet a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
