Is it worth it? I don't normally hunt when the wind is over 20 mph or when it's raining. Today and tomorrow it's doing both. I was planning on trying to get a deer on the ground this weekend...but I don't want to further disappoint myself. At the very least I'm gonna go glass fields at last light.

The third factor impacting deer movement has surprised all of us associated with the study. Wind velocity plays a major role in whether deer move or don’t move. I expected to see a bell-shaped curve relationship with wind speed. I thought a calm day with no wind wouldn’t be good for causing deer movement. I assumed really-strong winds with possible wind speeds of 30 to 40 mph wouldn’t be good days to hunt. I initially thought that wind speeds of 12 to 15 miles per hour would be the best days to hunt. But in our statistics, we’ve seen a linear relationship. In other words, the harder and the faster the wind blows, the more deer sightings and deer kills we recorded during that 20 years.

I will be out for the last hour or so but with very low expectations. I haven't seen a thing behind my house this year but I have a ground blind and some corn back there and still have a buck tag so that's where I'll be. I keep waiting for crazy cold weather but we haven't had much of that.
 
I'm in the same boat, only I have a property I'm contracted to kill doe and haven't yet! But the back yard is looking good tonight...lol. Shelter and a pile of corn....I'm gonna go pull the card and see what's up.
 
Yeah, that shelter sounds like a good way to go as long as you have deer showing up. Not sure I'd want to spot and stalk with rain blowing in my face. Wind is one thing but horizontal rain? Pass...

Whatever you end up doing, good luck. Hope you kill one.
 
I personally rather hunt ten plus wind, or completely calm afternoons.
The last two days sitting with the wife we saw 8 on thur afternoon, 2 fri am, and 7 fri evening.
Only thing with strong winds is they seem to be more cautious and it;s hard to play the wind in the hills.
The hills makes the wind swirl around in different directions.
Almost all the deer came up the draws, scent checking a ways out before coming in.
We will be out this afternoon.
All my cams showed good movement yesterday afternoon.
 
Cam showed nothing for daylight. Got a little buck showing up just after dark and just before daylight. So I'm guessing he's bedding back here. Wind direction is great for "the shed"...looking like a good option.
