I just thought of another idea. The way my house is laid out. I could blow a hole at the top of my stairs and put this above the garage. It wouldn’t take up any living space, I could give them plenty of room and it would be an added warming system if a break in happened at night.

Check crlumber.com not sure if they have what you need but I know they carry a bunch of different stuff. It's fairly close to you as well. On US 68 between Wilmington and Xenia.
I talked with a buddy, he’s going to try and get me an old power pole. I’ve cut up hundreds and thrown them in the trash.
Yes, lots of places do. I’m just wanting something bigger. Not the 1/2”x4 1/4”. Thinking more slab’ish, if that makes sense. 1 1/2” thick chunk/slab of lumber.
Yeah, the buddy in this has made deals with a guy before. I’d be using the same guy and will likely get the lumber for free.
Any last suggestions? Gonna make the venture tomorrow morning to get the supplies. Just gonna build it out of 2x6 and old puppy crate. Using some aroma cedar veneer on the inside.

Yes quit procrastinating and get it done. Wait....take your time, you gonna need something to do during lockdown.
The day after I started this thread I messed up my circular saw. Bounced it off the floor and twisted the table all up. Been putting it off because that doubled the cost of this project. Looking ahead...I better get some projects lined out and this is one of them. Time to spend some money, sale or not, it’s go time.
I got a little bored yesterday...Wife is doing the paint and staining before I actually put it together. Simple box build. 3’ tall, 32” deep and 56” wide to fit perfect in the corner between the window. Plan is to have it dried and assembled Friday morning. I’ll update final product with pics then.
Idea was to match this old dresser she converted.
