I knowd sumptin

Looks like something Hoyt would do lol. How did it get shot in the ass and still die lol.

Great looking buck Brock. Who shot it ?

The buck was hard quartering right. I broke his opposite shoulder...he never left my site.

Hate to disappoint, but I lost my first deer with a bow since 2001. Only the second time ever and this time, it wasn't a tracking error. Playing the shot over in my head again, I'd have moved it maybe 2" back. She dropped and threw her lead shoulder back. It's almost like she caused the arrow to exit forward because at the angle she was at, I should have caught lungs. We tracked her close to a mile and she only laid down twice. We jumped a deer that snorted at us as we were running out of ground. She was nearly to the small town down the road from us. Going to track down the owners of the land where we lost her as I don't know them and search what's left of the wood lot in the morning, but I'm sure she'll live at this point.

Hate to hear that Jesse. Hope you are able to find her in the AM. Let me know if you need some help, I can swing by after work (7ish). My eyes don't work well, but I can crawl around on my hands and knees licking leaves and looking for blood!

Dang Mike. That is some shootin right there buddy. Congrats on a heck of a hog buck right there. He sure did have a big ol belly in that trail cam pic lol. Looks like a 5-6 year old buck ?

Good luck finding her Jesse. Did you just catch her right in front of her shoulder or glance off and get a deep flesh wound when she turrned ? Sucks to not find them.

I'll have to post a pic of where it when in, it's such a strange thing. It went in 2" below her midline and right off the point of her shoulder (elbow) as she was dropping. But she threw her shoulder back hard and I'm thinking that momentum turned her towards me enough to deflect the arrow forward. Complete pass through and it didn't sound like a shoulder hit.

Sounds similar to what happened with the last buck I shot, the one you helped me find. I bet you went in behind the front shoulder, and exited in front of the opposite shoulder. Funny things can happen to arrows when they react and kick their legs back while the arrow is passing through.

Sorry to hear about the doe Jesse. Hope you find her tomorrow if she is in fact dead. Hopefully she's ok, they're tough ass animals.

Congrats on the very nice buck Mike! Can't wait to hear how the hunt went down.

Sucks jesse, we have all been there. I hope you are able to pick back up on her in the a.m.

Congrats Mike on a great deer.

Long day at the office... Just got back to the 'puter.

Sorry to hear about that, Jesse. That really sucks man. I hope you can track her down in the morning.

Mike - That looks like a hell of a deer man. Congrats! Looking forward to the story and more pics.

I was fortunate to take my first opening day deer this morning... a doe. Saw a lot of deer today. I'll post story and pics soon... hopefully.

Sorry to hear it, Jesse.

Mike - let's see some real pictures and a story. Burned the tag on the first day of the season? What's that all about?
