If you won….

Kentucky real estate would be purchased as would a retreat in the Smokies. Locally, probably buy a solid piece or two if the right ones popped up. As I age, some of these dreams seem less desirable. I can only be so many places at a time. Want to spend time with kids and grandkids (2 months out for our first one). I think I'd rather spend it on experiences rather than liabilities to take care of. Who has time to manage properties in multiple states? Even if money isn't the issue, logistics is. I guess some of my TOO brethren might get to play and manage them if I buy out of state. 🤔

Yeah Jessie I can see that. Personally only being able to hunt one buck a year really sucks ass. So you get lucky and kill your buck opener of bow season….what now? Kill or not I’m about the chase, adventure, hunting different types of terrain. Hunt a giant here and there, kill or not. Then other properties and states offer more, turkeys, ducks, pheasants or whatever you enjoy. No wrong answers in any post here.

Growing up I always dreamed of a 640 w cabin and stocked pond w plenty of game. I will never see that. Dreaming one day when I’m old can wake up from the cabin and tell my boys and their kids good luck and shoot straight. Hell I’m lucky and fortunate to have what I have. But if we dreaming we won the lottery, I want it all to make the most memories as possible. Think I’ve done great so far and I’m on the back side of the ridge in life. Been that hermit all my life until about 15 years ago when I started branching out. Gonna do my lifelong dream bucket list this year….yukon moose. Tomorrow is not another day when you get in your 50’s, it’s a day less.

Happiness comes from what you enjoy. Gods creations have been my blessings, like besides my family, friends and my dogs.

Buy a large chunk here in OH (already have it picked out ;))
Buy a few 80 acre tracks in Kansas (80 is the minimum to be eligible for a land owner tag). Build a cabin on one of them.

Get pilot license and buy a plane lol

Sounds like y'all are buying a whole lot of work. I'd buy a place with about 1,000 acres of timber. Live in the middle of it and sign a 10-year $0 lease with two young fellas ate up with bowhunting with the lease stipulation that they have to hang stands, plant plots, and keep the trails clear. I'll even buy the stands so they're big, comfortable, and good quality but they gotta hang em. Use my tractor, fuel, seed I don't care, but I'm not lifting a finger.

Then I'd book about 7-8 hunts a year out of state for whatever I want to kill and let some other darn fool do all that property maintenance and improvement. Tell chef I want two PB&J, a bag of classic lays and a thermos of black coffee. Let the guide know to have the buggy ready to roll at 5:30. 👍

That was part of my small places in different states plan. He just didn't ask for all that. Each property would have a house attached to the land. Rent the house and land to a hunter.

I bet that not one single person had to say "Hmmm, I wonder what...."
Nope.
Every single one of you already knew the answer before the question was asked; we're all walking the same path LOL

Sounds good but I bet it would be a pain in the ass. I would get a nice RV to travel the country in and pay to hunt in a lot of other states. Do a safari in Africa. Stuff like that. No worries about trespassing assholes,EHD,CWD,poachers and everything else you would have to deal with owning a big chunk of land.
