Welcome to TOO. I'd start in Ohio. Or maybe Kentucky. Too many places hit with EHD. I've got no clue which public hunting areas got hit or didn't get hit. Maybe try calling the district offices?

Legit.

Well. Tell us a little about your abilities and what you're looking to do. Are you the kind of guy that gets after it, eats tree bark, and doesn't come out until you;re dragging the meat. Or are you more about the experience and camp kind of guy.
I’ll get after it but my buddy and I are doing this for the experience because we are sick of hunting the same old places

Welcome! Might pay to mention where you are thinking of going and if you have scouted those places yet or are going in completely blind. The more we get to know you as a person and not just a "tell me where the big bucks hide" the more likely you'll get real advice. It really is up to you on the scouting and working for it, even with people pointing you in the right direction.

If sticking to public land, I will also add that late season can be more fun and way less hunters. Ohio gets swarmed from October to December by nonresident hunters. So when you get tired of cutting tracks, come on out. Our seasons aren't the same as yours, lol.

Hunted Woodbury several years, it’ll be harder than you think to get away from people, a lot of roads and trails that access several sides of the different strips/blocks. So you might walk a mile or 2 deep and run into someone who parked on the other side and did the same. It’s also hilly.
Yup how it is here also they walk in on people even if they know you are in there but here in maine we don’t have much public land so that’s a huge part. We are going to be out there from oct 25-nov-2 only dates we could go since my buddy’s family will be in Florida that week so we are coming out there
