Hello I was just wondering if anyone wouldn’t mind telling me a good spot to start my hunting trip!! Any information be greatl I’ao
We are going this year end of October we have public land places to start.Welcome ! Are you planning on a trip for THIS upcoming season, or hopefully next year, where you'd have more time to investigate our state ?
I’ll get after it but my buddy and I are doing this for the experience because we are sick of hunting the same old placesLegit.
Well. Tell us a little about your abilities and what you're looking to do. Are you the kind of guy that gets after it, eats tree bark, and doesn't come out until you;re dragging the meat. Or are you more about the experience and camp kind of guy.
Good idea here in maine we don’t have ehd so I never gave that a thoughtWelcome to TOO. I'd start in Ohio. Or maybe Kentucky. Too many places hit with EHD. I've got no clue which public hunting areas got hit or didn't get hit. Maybe try calling the district offices?
Yup going to be putting some miles on for sureWelcome. Don't base your experience on deer. Come on over and get some boots on the ground. Don't be afraid to get aggressive and move around. Enjoy the process and you won't be disappointed.
We are staying in coshcotonWelcome to the site. What part of the state are you thinking?
I understand I’m not after a huge buck just the experience in hunting a new state/areaWelcome! Might pay to mention where you are thinking of going and if you have scouted those places yet or are going in completely blind. The more we get to know you as a person and not just a "tell me where the big bucks hide" the more likely you'll get real advice. It really is up to you on the scouting and working for it, even with people pointing you in the right direction.
Thanks a lot I have onx and spartan forage but here in maine they are not very accurate so that’s what we would be going by to find public just don’t wanna be my first time out there and get in trouble
Hunted Woodbury several years, it’ll be harder than you think to get away from people, a lot of roads and trails that access several sides of the different strips/blocks. So you might walk a mile or 2 deep and run into someone who parked on the other side and did the same. It’s also hilly. We are staying in coshcoton
Yup how it is here also they walk in on people even if they know you are in there but here in maine we don’t have much public land so that’s a huge part. We are going to be out there from oct 25-nov-2 only dates we could go since my buddy’s family will be in Florida that week so we are coming out thereHunted Woodbury several years, it’ll be harder than you think to get away from people, a lot of roads and trails that access several sides of the different strips/blocks.
