Hello all! Wanted to post and introduce myself. While my username is Tysonhunter (goes back 25 years to early talk forum days when I worked for TysonFoods) my given name is Harry. I am a evil non-resident lol from your neighboring state of Indiana. Wife and I live about 50 minutes west of Dayton just across the state line. We are a blended family with three kids, two sons out of school working in the trades and our daughter is in high school. I work remotely and travel quite a bit for a Process & Control Engineering company focusing on food/beverage industry. (which includes bourbon distilleries, be jealous) I have spent my entire career either managing food/bev companies and facilities or now on the engineering project side. Wife works in pharma quality control and also coaches high school basketball. While I am a lifetime license holder in Indiana and spend a majority of my time here hunting, I hunt both KY & OH every year and sprinkle in other destination hunts which in the past have been Iowa, NY, and ID chasing public land elk. I have very limited private access and tend to find myself on public lands more often than not. I enjoy using my jon boat and kayak to get away from folks when I can but simply enjoy the thrill of unknown and constantly trying to find what is over that ridge or around the bend. The past 5 years my group & I have put up a proper deer camp at Salt Fork each October and it has become easily one of my favorite places and times to hunt year after year. It seems as I grow older, the deer camp and people I am sharing the experience with is far more important than whether I get one or not. I have had some decent success with decent bucks but it seems I am a every 3-4 year kind of guy as I always try to better the one prior. We have a toyhauler and try to camp as much as we can and also enjoy riding our SXS which we have taken to both KY and WV on trips. I am proud to say we have not purchased burger in years and tend to solely depend on venison as a protein source outside of pork/chicken etc. I mostly focus on deer/turkey but am a sucker for a good rabbit hunt I must say. While my true love is archery hunting I have ZERO hesitation getting the gun/muzzy out and typically by the time these seasons roll around I welcome it. Looking forward to remaining active around here and hopefully catching up with some of you at a campground or trailhead near you. Cheers everyone!
PS, any other questions or info you'd like me to add just chime in!
