Is this bad luck?

Also, I would not feel bad for displaying those antlers one bit! They were special enough to someone to cut them off and keep. That person could be gone now and be very happy to see someone getting joy out of them again.
I've got two sets hanging that aren't mine. One is an officially scored 156" that was my sister's fil's (WWII vet). The other set was picked from belongs that were dumped from the veteran's home in Toledo.
I've bought a couple really old shoulder mounts at garage sales years ago, within a few weeks of eachother. My dad cut them off and added them to a few other antlers we had and made a chandelier. They were thought enough of originally to be displayed, keep it up
Not that I ever bought any myself, but I know of others that have for their business establishment (sport bar). I have a feeling that all of mine will one day end up in garage sale too or at least that's what I'm thinking is goin to happen to them eventually.
Anyhow. I've mounted several deer that I did not harvest/kill myself. You're more than welcome to search the DIY threads for my first euro mount that I did, which is a good example, plus I had a big summer time buck mounted (full velvet shoulder mount) that I had a two year history with that got hit by a truck.
I do not think they bring me bad luck at all. If anything, they make me feel good that'll have a chance to be appreciated by someone, which means quite a bit to me. I also have history with each of them too, so not only can I speak to that, but I typically will have trail camera data to support whatever stories I have behind them.
My workshop is my man cave, which is full of antlers, mounts, skulls and I'm running out of room too despite that I continue to collect them today.

Since I've got some idle time while sipping down my coffee, I went ahead and looked up that euro mount of mine for ya.

Nothing wrong with displaying another man's trophies as long as you never claim them as your own. Your money goes to a good cause and the antlers live another day.

A guy at our gun club found a mount at the dump. He brought it back to the club, the club then voted to remount the antlers on a new cape (the original mount was cracked, peeling and beat up). We had a taxidermist as a member so the cost would be good. It was a huge 8 point and occasional brings up conversations about its origins. It’s been hanging down there since the 80’s.
