"J"'s 2016/17 Rabbit Adventures

We've had 3 male beagles in my lifetime and that was 3 too many lmao.... Every one of them bastards had baggage lol.... When we finally swore off males and stuck with all females we've had nothing but good luck.... Just the way it's been working for us is all.... A lot of guys do t like running females due to the possibility of coming into heat during season.... But we've not have any issues with them so far....


 
Ive got 1 of each a male and a female. I think my male is the tougher more gritty aggresive runner. He is hard headed at times but i can live witb it. My female is starting to become a pretty solid dog tho. She still has her hard headedness too tho. If i were to chose id pick a male. To each there own

Exactly, are you running training collars on them?
It's like a mile long leash when they're on....


 
Had the girls out Monday late afternoon and missed the mark on the weather as it was freezing (temps dropped 5 degrees in an hour) made for rough conditions for tracking, didn't jump any rabbits and no fresh sign was noticeable in the two spots we were at....

Did jump 3 deer outta their beds and they watched the girls for a couple minutes going thru the thicket and never noticed me 40 yards away until my phone rang and then they never really spooked just trotted off too the back of the property....

Oh well, we got out, got some exercise and fresh air lol.... First skunk of the season.... Was thinking of heading out again this afternoon but with these temps, I think I'll hold off....

I'll be out, hopefully a couple times this week weather permitting.... Looks like it might be good after tomorrow....
I want to head down too my deer hunting spot and hit that dump again, it's covered in rabbits and I want to just get the girls a good workout after our last outing lol....


 
I love how every dog has a different personality. It's even better after you hunt with them long enough to learn each individual personality.

I read somewhere that a bunch of memebers went on a big TOO rabbit hunt. Does this still happen? I read the threads of previous hunts. Sounds like fun. My dogs aint the best, but i can drink some beer lol......
