Not a great pick, but this is my 80,81,84 cj7

80 hardtop and doors
81 cj7
84 straight 6 and widetrack axles.

About a 17 year old restoration, getting her fixed up for my middle son.

She is home. I washed it up. Examined the underside a little better. Going to take some more rust repair than initially thought. Putting it up on the trailer opened my eyes a bit. BUT. . . I bought it right. I could flip it and make money where I sit.

Here is where I am: get brakes fixed. Put a battery in it. Change the oil. Digest what it truly NEEDS and what I WANT. Then assess what I am going to do.

Hemi conversion with 33's!
That sounds expensive, yet fun as heck! I don't see it happening. I'd have to upgrade axles, transmission, reinforce frame, and it would still be a SHORT wheelbase vehicle. Like riding on a roller skate attached to a jet engine. Lol

I envision Wile E Coyote.

Sounds like you have 'Been there. Done that.'

This is a sickness. I've been pricing stuff. This rust repair panel or that one. Maybe do a whole new tub? Fiberglass or steel? American steel or Chinese? I think you can do as much or as little as you want. Sky is the limit from what I am learning. Then I decided to scroll thru a Craigslist search and BAM! Found a tub for $400. I'll be calling in the morning. It looks pretty dang good. Even if it needs some loving, I can work on it while driving mine then do the whole swap in one shot. Or. . . .$500 buys a complete floor for front while $250 buys the rear floor. IF you don't need anything else. Ugh. I am going to have to go look at this one I guess and see just how good or bad it is.

I see a frame-up resto in your future!!!

Possible. I won't lie. It is quite possible. Fortunately, it shows 59k miles and I think it is accurate. Can still see factory engine paint. Essentially, I bought a good set of bones to work with. If I do a resto, it will be a DIY resto. Pull the tub. Blast or wire wheel the frame. Weld in any frame mods I choose. Hit it with POR15, then cover it with bed liner. Slap the tub back on. This will stay like my wife's 62 Nova. "A driver." I don't want something I am scared to drive. I already have some guns I won't shoot. That is like marrying a super model because you want to snuggle. Just isn't right. lmao

2006 Rubi.....the last year of the 258. 6 speed manual. She's a creeper and sticks to snowy roads like glue.

Phil, I have 5 factory wheels and nice tires on them for our 95. Not sure if they'd fit yours or not. I'll let them go for a fair offer. Wheels are in excellent shape.

Look, I'm not trading them for the OU for Klay and Kody to use. They are welcome to borrow it at Mingo again though. lmao

Seriously. . .My tires are dry rotted bad. Let me know what size they are. I can check to see if they will work or not. Pretty sure mine are 15" tires. 95% sure. I can always pick them up when I get my folding table. HA! Hope you are getting some use out of it.

I'll have to check out the size on them tomorrow.

Your table is safe and sound in my garage.

That over and under is a perfect trade!!

Number of lug nuts, tire size, and a pic if it isn't asking too much would be great. Pretty sure you have my cell. You can text it if easier. I sort of like that O/U so don't get your hopes up. haha I could sell it and buy 4 rims and a tire. :smiley_arrogant:

Not sure what it is about buying a truck (or toy in this case.) We have so many bigger priorities in life, yet we find ourselves drooling over ways to change or modify our toys. I need to make the brakes function properly first, yet I am looking at add ons and wheels and bumpers. I guess it is like a grown up version of day dreaming. Here are the rims I looked at after thinking about Cotty's different rims/tires. These are sweet in my eyes, but I like the classic looks. These are a classic design with the modern black look on the inside. I'm not a black rim fan, but with the chrome polished ring I think these are sweet. $360 for four of them shipped seems reasonable compared to some of the ones I've seen.
