The even crazier thing about this is they didn't even giving the magazines a chance to say they are not going to print anything about ARs going forward. They just blacklisted them. This sends a message to other publications such as Field and Stream to never mention anything about a ARs if they want to keep their magazines in that store. In other words the ramifications of this is a major retailer has censored private print ad of a specific topic. Hitler much?
We spend well over $1K a month a Kroger. To buy groceries anywhere else requires me driving at least 20 more minutes and fighting "city" traffic to get there. Really puts me in a tough spot when it comes to buying groceries. I'm in our Kroger 3-4 times a week due to the convenience factor.
Yup...I’ve got Walmart and Kroger in my area. Fruits, veggies, and my hi-ball are best had at Kroger’s. I hate Walmart, but shop at Sam’s due to it being 30 miles closer then Costco. Gonna have to really rethink my food and how I get it. Tough spot to be in...damn kids these days ruining everything.

I quit going to Kroger when they pulled ARs from their subsidiary stores out west. And Walmart when they raised their age requirements. While it's granted that Meijer doesn't even sell guns, they have at least kept their mouth shut and maintained neutral ground. Same for Aldis and GFS. My shopping has gone to ALdi, Meijr, and for general purpose goods that Walmart would have supplied, Rural-King and the local hardware store.
This agenda and movement by large corporations should be a wake-up call for every sportsman and firearm owner. Big corporations only care about your money, and as soon as it becomes unpopular for them they will throw you to the wolves. That includes retailers like Cabelas and BassPro. Don't believe that, I ask you then, how much has Cabelas and Bass pro done to stick up for you in this onslaught against guns? Have they made PR statements, kicked off sales to show their appreciation for you, or done anything to fight for your right to own AR-15s. Nada.. They've stayed out of it. Spend your dollars with your local gun shop. Spend your money with someone who will look some granola hippie in the face and say "Fuck You". That includes ammo, guns, and goods. If we don't support these places then eventually liberals will ban guns and ammo through scarcity as they pressure big retailers to drop ARs. And they'll do it as we've seen with Dicks and Field and stream because they want hippies to keep buying golf clubs and running shoes. .
Yeah I'm going to continue to buy Cabela's clothes. Anyway, here's an AR they have on sale.

They always have things on sale, so did Dicks, and Field and Stream before selling out our 2A rights to soccer moms and hikers. My point is they don't really care about your right to own AR-15s, they only care that you buy them from them. If push really came to shove they would sell us out just like Dicks and the rest of them. They've kept their mouth shut so as not to become a target for the antis threatening to boycot buying little jimmy his soccer cleats there. Around 2009 I walked in to the bass pro in Cincy to buy a 30 rd AR magazine. This was at the beginning to the AR craze. They didn't have a single AR magazine, no AR accessories, and not a single AR for sale. . Bewildered I asked where to find them and was informed by the employee behind the gun counter rather snobbishly that Bass Pro doesn't sell tactical weapons and only sporting arms.. It was about 6 months to a year after that Bass Pro jumped on the AR bandwagon. Largely because retailers couldn't keep them on the shelf and Bass Pro wanted in on the money.
It will be very interesting to see if Bass Pro does their NRA Freedom Days thing this summer. For the past couple years they've partnered with the NRA and given a $10 gift card to anyone who joins or renews their NRA membership, as well as discounted firearms. This year the date on their website just says "More coming soon"
I could care less about Bass pro, never shopped there much. I don't really think it should be the retailers responsibility to speak up for people anyway, the fact that Cabela's still sells them should say enough with all the shit that's been going down.

Cabelas is owned by Bass Pro now. If I'm spending my money with a retailer I expect them to uphold the values of gun owners and take a stance, pick a side, and make it public. The other side is very successful in getting retailers to do just that, and it's not been in our favor at all. If they don't publically take a stance then you get bullshit like Dicks PR statement of "We support and respect the Second Amendment, and we recognize and appreciate that the vast majority of gun owners in this country are responsible, law-abiding citizens. BUT " and then in the same breath they banned all sales of ARs in their stores and called on federal regulators to "Ban assault style firearms". Yet they claim to "Support and respect the Second Amendment" Yeah, Bass Pro and Cabelas claims the same, but without a definitive stance from them it's hollow BS.
Simply "still selling them" says nothing more than they like the money they get from selling them. It does not say they will not sell us out too if the heat gets too hot.. Until recently F&S was "still selling them".. Now they've thrown us to the wolves. Wouldn't it have been nice if before they did that we spent our money with a retailer that took a stance and stood behind us and not with the likes of Dicks and Field and Stream. I don't want a retailer who is going to avoid the subject hoping to have their cake and eat it too, I want to support a retailer that I KNOW has our best interest at heart.

Local gun stores and sporting good stores that have a vested interest in maintaing your business. When these massive retailers sell us out to sell more golf clubs and hiking boots it is the local gun store who will stand behind your rights and sell you an AR.
How about vances right here in Columbus who made this statement on their most recent NRA drive
"Vance Outdoors is an official NRA Recruiter. Considering the political climate, I call this a pretty gutsy position, considering that there are those who see law abiding gun-owners as more of a threat than the terrorists that run free among us, and who blame the NRA for the terrorist attacks that occur!"
Or we can even buy online from retailers like Buds Gun Shop that are sponsors of both the NRA and the National Shooting Sports foundation. Right at the top of their website they offer a discount for joining the NRA.
MidwayUSA donates tons of money to the NRA and Larrys wife Brenda sits on the NRA foundations Board of Trustees. Employees at MidwayUSA have NRA membership stickers proudly displayed on their office name plates.

And the list could go on and on. The point I am trying to make is support those who vocally support you. There are gun sellers out there who would never think of selling out your 2A rights, and they make it very clear where they stand. Then there are those like Dicks and F&S who will take your money and claim to support the 2A, but will sell you out in a heartbeat first chance they get it benefits them. By not taking a stand I see Cabelas and BassPro as one step away from being just that. I'd rather spend my money with someone who vocally stands behind be.

Precisely my point man, their unwillingness to take a stance and make a statement tells me all I need to know about where their loyalty lies. It is with your dollar and not a belief in the Second Amendment or your right as an American the own firearms. There are a lot of companies out there that do however, and we should support them just as they support us.
