Las Vegas Shooting

If your just waking up, we had the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history last night. Over 50 dead and 200 injured so far. Some asshole opened fire with fully automatic guns from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay into a crowd of 40,000. My very best friend was right in the middle of it all. I was finally able to reach him an hour ago. He gave me some graphic details. He said there were blood, bodies, and people getting trampled everywhere. He kept dodging in and out of cars to escape. He ripped open a door of a car full of girls who were escaping and jumped in with them. He got separated from all his friends. They all made it out unhurt. He is a mess right now. My heart just hurts for all those people. Send some prayers their way if you can today.

Wow, that had to be a terrifing ordeal to go through. Thoughts and prayers continue for the victims and their families. Glad your friends were spared.

I take shit from people for always needing to sit where I can see the exits and doing a walk around whenever I'm in a new public space. I'm not trained, but I ain't dumb either. Hard to say what I'd do in this type of situation, but I'd like to think I wouldn't freeze up.

Well, his girlfriend that was out of the country, in the Philippines, received a $100k transfer from the shooter a week before the shooting. She is Phillipino.

It was being reported that she was going around and warning people of their upcoming death, security escorted her out of there about 45minutes earlier..... Unless they reported the wrong person.... Again....

Wrong person. She is out of the country. Being flown back with security waiting.

The pictures initially were put out as possibly being an accomplice and she looked Philippine as well...
Same woman, Marilou Danley, is his roommate. She is Phillipino and currently in the Philippines. She was there during the shooting. The shooter wired $100k to the Philippines last week. She was not in the crowd claiming all were going to die. Have not heard or scene who that was supposed to be. Originally it was rumored it was her but it has been confirmed she has been out of the country.

Marilou's debit card was found in the room Paddock was shot in.

Strange.... Wonder why he had it?

I’m the same way as you. I always sit near a exit or know where the closest one is at all time. I also try and put myself in an area where if something does happen I am able to either draw from concealment and put shots on target first, find a place to get under cover and not just concealment and evaluate quickly what to do, or exit the area. After watching videos I realized how people don’t know the true difference between cover and concealment and also that when in a high adrenaline, life threatening situation they loose all ability to function and freeze up. I would like to think that I would be able to think simple and either evacuate the area, or find cover and think of a plan to escape but I also hope I will never be in that situation. I have no prior military experience but I have taken 4 concealed carry classes 5-7 hours a piece offering not only situational awareness, evacuation planning in emergency situation, and how and when to draw and put shots on target effectively, but also on cover vs concealment, how to try and calm your nerves and think critically and rationally in life threatening situations, and also how basic first aid. I know being in the situation is different and a couple classes and simulations aren’t going to prepare me for the real thing, but I feel it has helped me and changed how I think and what I carry on a daily basis. I get crap for going out and not drinking because I choose to carry at all times, I get crap for never wanting my back to a doorway when in public, always carrying a flashlight, a knife, and a small med kit in case of an emergency, but god forbid something did happen, they would be glad that I came prepared for the worst.

Going over scenarios helps out a lot but nothing puts you to the test as the real deal....

Totally agree with you. And I honestly cannot say I would do what I say I would do but I would like to think I could.

I watched one interview of a young couple the morning it happened and the girl infatically said there had to be a shooter on the ground as people were getting shot while being out of view of the shooter. She also mentioned that they heard shots that sounded like they were coming from nearby on the ground. She was pretty certain anyway. They both had blood on them but said it was from people nearby during the mayhem.

Law enforcement fond what?, one perp with a hole in his head, lots of spent ammo and a pile of weapons. Do you all really think he was THE shooter or the ONLY shooter. Gotta give the lawmakers ammo. No pun intended:smiley_chinrub:

They interview so many people who know nothing at all. Just hot air being blowed around to keep the TV airways full.
Either they pick the stupid ones or no one else will talk on camera.
I feel for most it's their way to fame for a TV moment. Then they can go onto social media and ask 'did you see me'?

Best course of action? Keep your head on a swivel. Next time you're at the supermarket check out how many people are actually aware of their surroundings. You could literally rob some of these fools blind.

I got sucked in to a FB rabbit hole tonight. There's 5 million accounts of this going around and I'll admit at this point, this whole thing STINKS of conspiracy.
