Im kinda where you are, but did get a little more excited this weekend. Made a few last minute adjustments. And these green beans can be just what you need for deer sightings early season
Nothing more than it just doesn’t feel like it’s time to go yet. I feel like hunting season starts after harvest for me because I’ve worked harvest for so many years? Maybe, not sure. I just don’t feel like it’s time yet. Calendar says differentWhat does the delayed planting and harvest have to do with your desire to go hunting this weekend? From what I'm seeing, it should only help the cause. The late planted bean fields are still pretty green, meaning still attractive to deer. I'd much rather have standing green soybeans for opening weekend than harvested or yellow/brown soybeans the deer have moved away from. Just curious to your thoughts on this...
Yea I feel ya there. We just need a good cold snap to get you in the mood! That, and knowing a big deer is around helps the motivation levels too.Nothing more than it just doesn’t feel like it’s time to go yet. Once the nut pics start flowing in, I’m sure I’ll change my mind.Yea I feel ya there. We just need a good cold snap to get you in the mood! That, and knowing a big deer is around helps the motivation levels too.![]()
What's this corn stuff you speak of? None around here at allSome farmers started pulling some corn this past week. Mostly just pulling the driest stuff right now. Figure most of them will hit it hard in the next couple weeks. It's been awful dry and you can bet that when it starts raining it will probably stay wet for the next two months.
There are ladder stands, where you catch a breeze. But yea, 90 degrees is a downerYup, sitting in a blind in 90 degree weather? I dunno.
We had very little planted until July. Mid to late July in many fields. What I have found interesting is the beans are starting to yellow around here. Doesn't seem to matter when they were planted. Sort of like the rut. . . happens every year. . . fairly close to the same time. Might vary a week or so one way or another.
I think this late planting has me all messed up. I have zero ambition to even go out next weekend. It’s still hot as balls and harvest hasn’t even started.
That being said...anyone with a giant on a summer pattern should be out for sure this weekend.
Crazy how much weather in the spring can change everything.Very little beans were planted by us. Fields are just weeds. Not much corn either. And we haven't got much for rain since we planted brassicas a few weeks ago. And we have very few white oaks. Going to be a different season for us. Proly put out some corn.
Yes it is. we planted some beans in July but the deer and turkey ate them all before they got 3 inches tall.Crazy how much weather in the spring can change everything.
