By the time ya gather your stuff, a breaker bar + socket and 20secs. and you're home free!

Usually start the season on fresh sharp blades. Then around July when those pecker heads bounce back. The fall leaves really do the most damage on them.
The sweet grass that invades our front yard is the real tell on blade sharpness. About July, it comes on strong and being so "whispy" it looks like crap with dull blades.
I usually change my blades to a sharpened set after my first cut of the year. That first cut can be rough on blades. I prefer to mulch small fallen limbs that collect over the winter.

Sticks, limbs, small animals, yard furniture or small cars are nothing to mow over in the spring with that Scag after hitting a ball hitch out of the park!

First cut of the year at a major box store they hit a section of metal pipe throw into the lawn. Unfortunate because they wouldn't let us mow until May. Bye bye 2 $25 blades.

Not great as far as lines, but the new mulchers on the Kubota was a good move. Makes quick work of the backyard and shaves almost an hour off my mowing time using the bigger deck with more HP for mulching/blowing grass.

BTW, hitting golf balls into the woods from the upper end of my yard is supremely satisfying.
