This bump made me get off my butt and go look at some things. The 44 lever action i thought I got isn't a 44 at all. Odd, because I would put money on it that dad told me he bought one. Turns out to be a Rossi Rio Grande 410. Only takes 2.5" shells...anyone know a use for this? My brain can't put together why someone would buy this.

Actually it's hard to find 3" 410 now days. Almost all of them on the shelves are two and a half. I've been hoarding 410 rounds for the last few years for when Sydney starts shooting. Which will be soon
You can find 2.5” down here all day. 3”? Not so much….. Luckily, I have a few boxes from my beagle chasing days….

I've spent about 2 hours trying to get this thing to cycle. I can confirm that it was new and never been fired. There was zero wear on any of the slides. I did some file, sanding, oil and cycling. Biggest issue seems to be the feed spring. It must not be heavy enough to force the shell out of the tube. Maybe I'll try making a plug for it, see if that helps. But I have a feeling it will end up on the wall in the shop a be a single shot.

10 out of 10 I do NOT recommend.

The way it sticks way low in the ramp also sucks. You gotta push that shell in with another shell. So you gotta actually be looking at it and catch the tiny edge of the brass with the plastic front on a shell.
