Little Bastards...

Today's bee of the day... Was changing a chlorinator by a pool filter that has become overgrown with weeds.. Must have been 30 of these flying around... Big but docile as they were landing on my arm and not biting...

I agree with Jamie, looks like a cicada killer. Not aggressive but they CAN sting. Supposedly one of the most painful stings you can get. Google them. I’ve seen them in my front yard…there’s a small area that for some reason, they like to make their underground tunnels. They’ll sting a cicada and drag it into the tunnel, where they will lay an egg on it. The egg hatches and the larvae will eat the cicada alive, then pupates and comes out of the tunnel the next spring, to start the cycle all over again.
