Thanks fellas. Unfortunately it wasn’t the kind of day I wanted it to be. You see last Thursday we had an off duty ff pass away early due to an unknown heart attack. His family decided to have the ceremony on Tuesday….. my last day. We sent him off honorable, so my departure was not on a good note. Also Mardi Gras was last Tuesday so the commissioners moved our monthly board meeting to the 28th during the January meeting. Always seems like the hard way for this guy but I expect nothing else . Attended the board meeting and met w a couple of retirees at their house for a celebratory drink.
this morning my boys went fishing and I don’t get an invite
. I have a lot of work to do around the house but today I’m just not motivated like I thought I would be. I’m ok just feels different today.

Just made plans w Blake from the camp for the weekend. Looks like catching frogs, loggerhead turtle and set a few hoop nets are in order. Need to go to the camp to button up everything so I may roll up tomorrow.

Made it to the camp. Was a little nervous wondering if a crack head hit me up but all is good. Got to take some gear home till next season and my atv. On deck for tomorrow is to pull cams, get two sacks of decoys and a robo duck out of my blind, clean out blinds and bring heaters back to the camp.
After that I’m meeting up w Blake to set some turtle lines and hoop nets. Tomorrow night and Saturday night we gonna put the hurt on frogs. Should be a great weekend, mind is clear and no more stress from work as I quit……actually retired Tuesday.

After that I’m meeting up w Blake to set some turtle lines and hoop nets. Tomorrow night and Saturday night we gonna put the hurt on frogs. Should be a great weekend, mind is clear and no more stress from work as I quit……actually retired Tuesday.

So if you never realized how much deer need a mineral lick, here is a pic I just got. Mostly does and last years fawns. They have been burning it up. I used to think it was utilized during the warm months but it’s hit just as hard during the winter months. If you don’t have any licks I suggest you put some in.

Just got back from my trip to the camp, had to gather some things and bring my atv home.
Met up w Blake at his camp Friday morning. We set some lines to catch pollywogs and had to buy gizzards for bait. Ran them later and didn’t catch a fish. That night went went to catch frogs and managed to catch 71. I went to my camp and pulled two deer livers out my freezer to use for bait. We rebaited and put some jug lines out for turtle. Sunday we checked the lines and only caught one eel. We thinking the water is still too cold. Took a ride on the river and had 3 big head carp jump in the boat…..perfect! Came back and set out two turtle hoop nets. They went home and I went to my camp. Forgot I pulled cards so I put one card in the laptop and before I knew it I couldn’t hold my eyes open. Decided to stay the night and come home today.
Had a trespasser on cam. He showed up February 10th at night and got pics of him 2 hours later going back.
Let’s just say I have a target buck for this year and some up and comers.
