So Dj scouted this evening on tha public. Said hogs everywhere. Time to bring out the 22mag and knife in the morning. It ain’t fun hunting by yourself. He’s gonna bow hunt a small pond in the woods. I’m gonna go slipping across the road and see what’s up. Pearl still holding down the camp. Damn pic wouldn’t load.

Decided to hunt the property instead of walking around w my back hurting. Different stand next to big woods. Barely breaking daylight and I see what appears to be deer coming around the turn in turn row 125 yards away. Put my scope on one and it’s either a 3yr old 5pt or 6pt that needs to be shot. Trying to make sure in the low light that it was one of them and he steps out of site into my crp. Thought usually they will cross on my middle lane, but not today. Had 2 does and two fawns follow up. Later had a bear at the end of middle lane and a smaller one later on my east lane. Still a good hunt in my books.

Sounds like you're starting to see them. Even still, every moments in the woods is a good moment.

You’re right Joe, especially when you have limited time to be hunting. In my case I have all the time I want so it doesn’t feel like that to me. Maybe I’m spoiled 🤷🏼‍♂️. Just got back from town buying 12 bags of winter wheat seed to throw out before this much needed rain that’s being forecasted. Something has to give around here as we are as dry as I’ve ever seen it since 1990. I can hunt in crocs if I wanted. Normally need knee boots at minimum. It’s gonna be what it’s gonna be. I will adjust or hunt another state or hours away from here. Either way I will be taking advantage of my retirement and the 35 years of two full time jobs that I lost out on in my younger years.

Me and D made a hog hunt this evening since it was 82 degrees. I dropped him off told him where Hunter goes. I went to our other spot and walked in 200 yards and had a bunch of sholts grunting in the palmettos. They went away then came back but never seen them.

Dj walked to a lake that’s almost dry and had 15 out there. Was 50 yards off but didn’t want to sling an arrow and have to try and get it. So he sat down near the edge as they went the other way. Then they came back to him. He stuck a big sow at 4 yds but 15 hogs running in palmettos, it’s hard to know what’s what. Found just a little blood since the hog was quartering to him and got a pass thru. He looked till dark and gave up.
