Sounds like you're starting to see them. Even still, every moments in the woods is a good moment.Decided to hunt the property instead of walking around w my back hurting. Different stand next to big woods. Barely breaking daylight and I see what appears to be deer coming around the turn in turn row 125 yards away. Put my scope on one and it’s either a 3yr old 5pt or 6pt that needs to be shot. Trying to make sure in the low light that it was one of them and he steps out of site into my crp. Thought usually they will cross on my middle lane, but not today. Had 2 does and two fawns follow up. Later had a bear at the end of middle lane and a smaller one later on my east lane. Still a good hunt in my books. View attachment 214675View attachment 214676View attachment 214677View attachment 214678
You’re right Joe, especially when you have limited time to be hunting. In my case I have all the time I want so it doesn’t feel like that to me. Maybe I’m spoiledSounds like you're starting to see them. Even still, every moments in the woods is a good moment.
Seen 8 does and fawns this morning. Dj was going on refuge when I left camp. After daylight broke I texted him to make sure he was good. No answer. Never answered after several text and phone calls. The father’s panic set in. I got out the stand and rolled out to my truck to find him in his truck waiting for me. He was supposed to grab the wheat so we could throw it out. What an integral relief. He didn’t have the seed and I ask wtf is going on. He said he loaded up to go hunting, locked the camp and forgot his phone, he uses onx a lot and gps was in camp. He said he tried to get Pearl to let him in but we haven’t taught her that. Don’t need her deciding when she wants to go outside on her own.
Dj went back to the camp to get the seed. He didn’t bring it because he thought I left the bag seeder at camp. It was in my truck, all about details when your trying to get done. I told him why didn’t he walk 100 yards to the gate where I have a cell cam that would’ve let me know he’s ok. Sometimes I think these kids now days wouldn’t make it without us. Anyway we put seed out and drug a part of a tree to make sure seeds weren’t on top of leaves. Just need a rain dance and make it happen. Looks like some clover starting to pop up. I’m pretty anal about their safety and then I can relax. Used to walk them to a tree, watch them climb and lock in. Raise weapon and load it. Repeat for the next. Instructions were to never get down and I would get them out the tree. 2 way radios worked…..sometimes. Now w phones, communication it’s much better until one doesn’t answer or even show that they read it.The one thing nobody ever tells you before having kids is the worry. I'm not sure it could be described to someone anyway. I'm again reminded it never goes away. Glad it all turned out okay and you got the seed in.
