Hunted this morning where I ended up yesterday. Jumped 50 birds there and figured they flew in there that morning. Boy was I wrong, scored a fat zero this morning.
It’s raining now and front is coming in tonight. Should be 44 in the morning instead of 68. Gonna get in the stand and see what’s up. Hunter should be coming to the camp from Arkansas this evening.

I'm predicting 8:19 AM... I call that time period between 8 and 9 as show time... I've killed more deer than I can remember during that hour... This year's Illinois archery buck was 8:45

Just found out they auctioned off a tag. This guy that killed it is a Purple Heart recipient. Good for him on killing a giant.

Our rut is on so anytime is good. But I do like it best from 7-9, I usually kill them in that timeframe

Well the deer are late. Had a 2yr old 8 walk to the stand at daybreak. Seen 2 does since then. It’s 8:07. Not looking good for the home team.

One doe seen yesterday evening. Hunter got to the camp around 4:30 pm. We made a duck hunt with nothing to show for it so we went jump shooting our limit of palmetto parrots.

Hunter scouted after our duck hunt and returned around 1. We took a nap and I got up and woke him asking if he was gonna deer hunting the property. He said no, gonna catch up on some sleep. I hunted the big corn field stand and seen 10 does and fawns, no bone.
Plan in the morning is to deer hunting the property as it’s gonna be 32 in the morning. Not sure what Hunter wants to do yet.

I’m in the deer stand on property. Rut is in full swing or just tailing off. Haven’t got a pic of a shooter or lucky since first of December. But here I am, giving it a go. Hard frost and clear skies, hopefully a good movement this morning.
Hunter is going on the river with Pearl to shoot some ducks. I will update later. Good luck to all out today.

I hunted the property, seeing 3-4 bucks and 15 does. Some chasing so a great hunt. Hunter went to the river with Pearl and killed 3 rainbow otters 
(Giles). We both hunted the property w me seeing a bunch of does and two small bucks chasing. Hunter seen 5 does and a bear trying to climb up on the atv next to the stand.

Bout to get out of the stand, it’s been a different kind of hunt. Driving to the property on a small gravel road w no traffic on it there was a big deer laid across the road where I can’t pass. Got out and it’s a big buck w horns knocked off. I grab its legs and the deer had to be hit 10 minutes earlier. Drug it to the side of the road and went to property.
Hunter hunted on the river with Pearl and only shot a couple times at marginal shots killing nothing. I told him go pick up that deer and we will salvage what we can. It was still there so looking like backstraps for dinner tonight. Just not in me to let something go to wastes. Hopefully Hunter has it cleaned before I get back haha.
Oh I only seen a doe and fawn and 6 out of the 7 turkeys, I guess one fell victim to a bobcat.
