Turtles got to eat same as this fish!We tried to keep one but every time we shot one they would spit the hook and jump off the gaff. Damnedest thing.

I was off on weights. 147lbs on the whole tuna, 133 on the one missing his back half. He probably wpuld have gone upper 180s based on girth measurements. The wahoo was 57 lbs.

If any of you guys ever want to do it, and I HIGHLY recomend it once in your life, there are plenty of charters out of Venice La that hammer them daily who are way better equipped than us, do it for a living and are way closer to the grounds. Big comfortable 37 foot Freeman boats. Charters are $2,300 per day, plus fuel (180-200 gal) plus deckhand tip. Probably right at $3,500. They can take up to 6 guys. Figure $600 per person. Not bad considering it cost us $200 each in fuel, ice & baits.. And we still had to drive the boat to the ramp, fuel it, launch it, deal with the ramp monster, and clean the boat and fish today. We'll worth it IMO to just get on the boat, go fish and then drink beer while the deckhand cleans fish and takes care of the boat.
