It's been a while since I updated this thread with anything of quality. A buddy and I put in each year for mississippi alligator tags and he drew this year. We're allowed one large one over 7 foot and one slot gator between 4 and 7 foot. Season kicked off Friday and we filled the slot gator Saturday night. We're not allowed to use bait so it becomes a game of spotting them and getting close enough to cast a big 12/0 treble hook and snag them then get a harpoon in them with a bigger line.

Yeah I should have done the over the shoulders picture like the instagram hunters. What those pictures don't show you is how bad those bastard stink.

They're pretty explosive at first but tire quickly. A couple good runs and some rolling at the boat but then they get stoved up. The biologist explained that they build up lactic acid and basically get stiff and sore. I was able to hold its head over the side of the boat and stick a knife behind his head and it didn't even flinch.
