I had a fun hunt. 3 does in range, and then 15 minutes before dark I heard the loudest buck growl I've ever heard and then several chasing grunts after that. Never did see the buck.

Sounds like you had a great hunt! Always fun to hear a buck grunt

Post the video and how big you think it was

No. But I will post a pic from the vid when I get to my laptop. I would say he is very close with his estimate. He generally is. It's a really pretty deer. In a year or two he will be prettier.

I'd say his field judging is pretty sharp. Gonna be a fun fall!

Alright guys need some opinions, so tomorrow is going to be a perfect morning to go out but I have class at 9. I have to leave my house my 8:45 to make it to class by 9. Should I try and get out for a couple hours before class or do you think I should just stay out and go out a different morning? I really want to try and go out because there were 4 does and a nice buck back in the plot this morning and I feel like tomorrow would be a great day to get out, just don’t want to fall behind in class. What do you guys think? And if I do end up shooting something screw the class haha.

Edit:
Also most pictures I’m getting and the time the does were in the plot are in between 7:20 and 8. Nothing past 8:30 yet. Just wondering if you guys think it’s worth it to get out for a two hours
You have your whole life to chase deer. Ugh. That sounded like a "Dad" comment. But if you're concerned about falling behind then sell it to yourself like this: the best is yet to come. The next 2 weeks they will be getting more and more frisky. If you have a small area to hunt, leave the does alone. Do everything you can to keep them in there. Hunt that scrape after a rain. The bucks will come through and open it up again after a rain. I feel late October is a fantastic time to hunt scrapes.

Thanks for the insight. I have only been out once this year and I’m getting an itch to get out more and more with the temps dropping and the weather changing. I have noticed way more action this year with me not hunting as much and keeping the pressure to a minimum back there. We only have a 7 acre lot and with me keeping the pressure to a minimum in the 1.5 acre plot I made they have really been spending more time in there which is nice. I’m going to get up early and see what the wind direction is like and if it’s good I’ll go out for a little bit. My girlfriend and I are in the same class so it’s not a huge deal if I miss but I still don’t like to miss a single class cause I feel like the day I do skip I will miss a important thing and fall behind.

I just let a nice one walk. Pretty sure I know this one. I've got good video I'll share later. Catch and release hunting at its best.
