Still no deer. Amazing how this place goes dead during the rut. Really think I need to hunt harder earlier cause it seems like they move off to other properties when the does start popping. Going to move stands again after 1.

I respect you guys that are staying on the stand all day. I think youre nuts, but I respect you.
Gotta hunt when you can this time of year. I've seen enough bucks over the years between 11am and 3pm to fuel my fire. It really helps having a comfortable stand like a Millennium. I stand up most of the time but when I do sit, man it feels good.

I think some properties are like that. My observations tell me the thicker the cover, the better. It's like the does seek out the thickest, nastiest shit in an attempt to find relief from the bucks. Certain spots are great for intercepting cruising deer, but when a doe in the area is hot, it either really sucks or it's really good. Right now, for me, it sucks. Lol

Jesse, you're probably in "the spot". I don't think they are moving well today. Don't give up on the places that felt right because there isn't movement right now. When they get moving you'll see them! Have faith, or just go fool around doing something else until they deer decide to move.

By the way Brock, the scent smoker is really bailing me out this week. The wind has been swirling every day and I've had multiple deer catch my wind, nose up for a minute, and keep right on moving.

This little buck that just came through was downwind when he was out front of me, then circled around behind me... Then the wind swirled back to him over there too! I think the power of smoke is severely underrated. In conditions like this, this time of year, you just have to hunt and literally "throw caution to the wind." Smoke allows you to do that with confidence.

I understand fully, hunt when you can. I did it too when I had limited time. In fact I killed a nice one in 02 or 03 at 340 pm after sitting on a tiny stand all day. It was horrible. I had seen 6 bucks on a morning hunt the day before. I knew they were around somewhere so I decided I wasn't leaving. No food or drinks. I didn't see a deer that day until 3 pm. I've got joint issues. When I shot that deer I could hardly climb out of the tree and I could have spit a cotton T shirt. Lol. Not worth it to me. I'm not tough enough! Cudos to you all!

I did a 13 hour all day sit last Saturday, saw activity through out the afternoon. That being said, I had plenty to eat and drink but sitting all day in a ladder stand is rough on the joints.

Headed back to Ohio now and will hunt tonight and probably all day tomorrow.

Wait what am I saying we are killing one tonight!!!

Settled back in the 3rd stand of the day at 1:45. Still haven't seen or heard a deer. Be a long ass day if that doesn't change.
Went away from where I was hunting and ate some lunch been out all day and only seen 2 in my ladder stand that has a blind on it now don't want to get soaked

Oh and good luck to anyone that's out
I have a feeder about 55-60 yards from me hunting corridor that has 4-5 trails that connect to it

Easy to stay seated if the action is on!

I got out of woods around 1.

Long story short. Saw what looked to be a shooter while dark/rainy, about 20 steps into my hike. Never spooked. Was working a scrape with one other buck in sight.

Still hunted back to target area once light enough. Was frusturated with wet binocs and foggy scope. Argh.Saw a good amount of deer. Never got another look at the buck that made me change it up.

Finally arrived and Planted ass at the 'planned' spot from 10-1ish. Saw one doe high tail by around 10:30 and that was it. Kind of disappointed I didn't make it to target zone till that late, but It could have gone right.

I'm f'n exhausted from that slow, crawl back. Also feel like my eyes are going to shit. It's not not being able to pick up movement, it's more like picking up on every f'n movement that is NOT a deer. Weird.

To my left, an inside corner, standing corn, flat spot that drops to the creek behind me.

Out front, open flat then slight slope down to a thicker bottom.

To my right, thick bottom bedding area with a creek running through it.

Behind me, steep bank dropping into the creek, open woods, oaks then a cut bean field.

Good luck everyone.
