First time out since Sunday evening. Caught the wife's cold and the worst of it hit me Monday morning. I've been taking all kinds of the 'Cold & Flu' over-the-counter type meds since then. I feel well enough to make an attempt this evening since it's nice and warm.

We'll see what happens.

Not sure I was instantly celebrating with my daughter cause he dropped where he stood. It was in tall grass. Couldn't see below his belly. I'm getting a gang together to walk tonight

So what’s the outcome of your daughters deer? Did you guys find it?

Just came home from WV Rifle. Not a stellar hunt even though we killed 3. Out of 6 of us we saw 19 deer....4 bucks on public land. Tyler killed a young 8, my son in law a 5 and a buddy killed a good 8 but I didn't get pics of it. A guy sitting about 100 yards from my dad killed a stud main frame 9 with a split brow.
The DNR calls these places "Wildlife Management Areas". There is zero management of the property being done. When the state bought it in the early 80s it had just been logged. It became nasty and had an unbelievable amount of deer. 35 years later it is open hardwoods with zero cover and browse. It is still good bowhunting but once the acorns are cleaned up the deer are gone.

Good deal! Can you share more about the shots now? What happened?
one hit very very low under its leg at a sharp angle like low arm pit but the deer was U shaped like a dog licking his nuts when she shot. It's almost as if the bullet just hit some bone like a breast bone? but on the perfect angle or deflected I guess and it never entered the rib cage the hide was cut like four or five inches. A deep graze I'd say.Then number two was in his snout Broke his jaw and lodged in his neck. Fishing line is holding the mouth together for a pic.

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say the first shot hit him in the face. Either way, I’m glad you looked so hard and found it! Congrats little lady.

He hunched up like a gut shot when he stud up and I got good look at him starring at us after I mepped him to stop for number two. It's got me baffled.......o well.

End result is all the same. The deers reaction after the shot has interested me for a long time. So when things like this happen, it really grabs my attention. Don’t think I’m being rude, just trying to learn. Thanks for answering the best you can! 👍🏼

Congrats again!

@giles
Really interesting take on the first shot.
@Bowkills
Congratulations on the find. She was introduced to some of the harsh realities of hunting. Glad it was this outcome for sure. Stuff like that happens every year, especially on public land during gun season.

I fixed that for ya. 😂👍🏼

It makes sense for the first shot. Hit him in the face and knocked him out or just shocked his system.
