Wish I had a youth hunter with me. They'd have themselves a pretty good Buck right now...

I heard him get up @9 sharp from within the thick bedding area just to the East/my right, approximately 50yrds away.

Then I waited on him to reach me cause I heard him coming my way and he got within 15 yards in a matter of a few minutes.

My fourth encounter of this local 9pt, a regular for sure and I captured a brief video of him leaving the area through the CRP field that I'll post later on today. It'll give you an idea just how tall this CRP really is that's behind me and how deer disappear within it.

Getting aggressive going after this big Buck that I seen last night @5:10 p.m., 100yrds. away from my 'North Western Stand', due East.

So, I broke out my 'Lone Wolf Alpha' stand and left my workshop at noon with everything that I need for the rest of the day. I just got settled 80yrds. closer to the area where they first showed up. Not many decent trees to choose from. Had to also clear some shooting lanes 'TOO'.

I'm now good to go!

I'm currently setup with a crosswind from where him and an adult Doe first popped out from the standing CRP field that's right behind me, which is the area you see in the photo below. This spot should do the trick if I get a repeat from last evening.

Their foot prints from last night are 10yrds. in front me.

Fingers crossed and hoping for a repeat this evening!

Oh,,,it's also where I saw two Does from this morning go, just before 8:00 a.m. That was all the deer activity I seen this morning.

I'm willing to bet that they're all currently bedded within that CRP field right behind me as I type this.

We'll see what happens here shortly.

Good luck to all the youth hunters this evening and anyone else that'll be out!

Well I'm tired taking a break walking back to the house now. My daughter shot a buck at 453 today or yesterday now. He dropped in his tracks. I did a 30second video interview of my daughter s first kill......I look out the blind window to see him stand back up. Reload she shoots again not a good shot selection but at that point I thought just get him again. Connects. Neckish head area was possibly hit. The deer lays down or goes down. So we get down sneak out to him before dark. Ran 150yrds away. go out to see if she can get another shot. Walk right by the thing and jump with no shot. I gave him 7hrs. He was running messed up but still better than I wanted him to. I can't find his track where he had ran. Only little wood lots here. Wood lot 1 searched hard where I last saw him. Notta thing. I believe he cut a corner and went around. Not much blood where he laid down. I had to go tonight because I was told not to skip any more work. So I have some phone calls to get permission for the other two lots where he could have ran. Not looking good for the 1st deer attempt. Damn. I'll walk the other lots after work. Fresh coyote tracks out and about tonight.

Where was the first shot?

Terrible feeling ☹️, sorry to hear.

If anyone has a hound of any kind or any tracking breed it'll help tremendously. I have a mix hound, zero training but natural instincts take over especially when blood is involved. He's found 3 for our group. Takes awhile though, has to drink all the blood on the way.

My experience is no mans land. I’ve done it myself. Deer drops because the spine was shocked from the shot. Gets up and runs away to live a happy life. Let’s hope that second shot was the kill shot.
