LIVE from the stand 2019-20

Good luck fellas! Just got back from Walmart,I’m telling ya the gene pole there was depressing. Anyhow doused my hunting clothes down with some sawyers. So tonight I don’t think is in the cards for me. May just crack a ice cold beer.

Showered. Clothed. Jumped into a stand. Late. Recon mission for most part. This is an area deer can be killed but it is tough with a bow. Converging trails. Funnel. Picked soybeans to my south. Creek meandering north and west of me. Hated getting in this late but didn't bump any that I heard. Can't kill them from the couch.

I kinda got pushed around. Tried to hunt the same spot I tried to get to when I shot the doe. Guy was working on his cabin 100 yards away so I went to my second choice.

It felt like a great place to kill one. Had some action, heard some antlers crashing into antlers. That was pretty cool! Shortly after that I had a doe work towards me, really got me excited. And then all hell broke out and deer were bolting away. 6-7 total and one being a good buck. Couple minutes go by and I hear people. Someone brought the family up the creek in a boat or something. Screaming toddlers and a mom singing baby songs while dad fished😂.

So I grabbed my gear and packed it up to make a move @6:30. Took a short 300 yard walk to a tree line on the other side of the hill. Thinking maybe I could cut them off if they wanted to leave the property. Wind was wrong and I had no place good to hide so I tailed it towards the truck. Got to the truck with about a half hour of light left. Had 4 does in front of the truck while I was standing behind it. They had no idea I was there.

Fun was had. Adapt and overcome gents. Make things happen!
