I’m back in my favorite stand but I didn’t see a damn thing last night or anything yet today except for coons. Maybe it’s time for a squirrel hunt. I run a camera at home and it’s only showing nighttime pics.
At least 4 so far and one that blew at me halfway up my tree earlier, within 50 yards to the North..
Two buttons that stuck around for about 20 minutes underneath me, and more deer to the NW in the alfalfa field, which are still there as I type, and those buttons are in both photographs above. Top one them leaving the area and heading to the lower CRP field, most likely for the day to bed. I also captured them on video spar-play and one hitting the PLB afterwards.
Nice start to the day and I have not seen a mature doe for at least the last 24-48 hours, which has me wondering if they are locked down.
So. I set up a top section of a ladder stand for Lucas to shoot his bow out of, literally next to the house, 10 yards away from the archery range. Lu wanted to sit there this AM. We got dressed. Got out at daylight. And randomly a 1.5 year old buck walks through! Hahah what a great morning. Back at the house now
Sitting on ground where wind is more favorable and giving stand a break since 2 doe busted me on my way down last night. Saw 5 antlerless deer(same I always see) walking under and around my stand at 7:30 and I’m 80 yards away. Hoping they have short term memory loss. Just hoping a shooter finally breaks away from the doe he’s been breeding and checks out my girls this morning before the humanoids begin to work and play outside. Lol
That’s it for me guys. It’s been nice being a part of this forum but I’m hanging it up. Too many other, more important things to do than hunt. All the best to all of you and stay safe.
