We seen 3. Thermals changed right after I was explaining how it works to Levi. They smelled us but never seen us. I don't think we hurt anything.
We also learned that Bluejays are the Dustin's of the woods.
No child was harmed during this hunt either.

She would have been in the truck but a buck saved her. He wouldn’t come play. Seen 14 total 6 with headgear. Great night in the woods!
Those spicy garlic wings from last night have my first hunt of the year off to a firey start! Breaking all the rules by hunting an early October morning, but this weather is too good to avoid! Plus, the wind is perfect for an easy in, easy out, low impact stand. On a mission for a coyote or the giant doe I've been seeing. Anything with horns better be big and there's no way that happens.
So much for not pulling a head-up-ass move on the first hunt. Got to the farm and didn't have my tote of clothes. Tailgate was down, no tote. Flew home hoping I got distracted BEFORE putting it in the truck! Thankfully it was Round 2 on the throne that threw me off and the tote was where I left it!

The food plot sucks, but the stand is still solid. Flawless access into hunt a skinny creek bottom with 3 main trails leading into the plot. Plenty of oaks around, with good bedding to the W, N, and S. A technically sound setup even if the plot failed.

Neighbor Cliff harpooned a Tom from a blind this AM on a quiet corner of his place. Bull Elk and a Tom for him so far this fall...

Skunked, but it was worth it. Good dry run to work out the kinks and think through the next tweaks needed at that spot. She's almost perfect, I just need to polish it up a bit. Already looking forward to the spring and next fall!
