I’ve been in for an hour. Bumped 2 does going in. Another deer must have watched me climb up and another has been behind me disliking something. Watched a hawk dive bomb a squirrel. Crossbows totally suck in a tree stand.

I am back in. Breezy here as well. Back in the same oak flat. Bumped 6 out of the food plot on the way in.

Shot my bow some more. I really need to get my eyes checked or replace the batteries in my sight light. The wind didn't help as I backed up to 40yds. Respectable groups, but not good enough yet. I'm getting closer to joining you all in the woods.

Just got settled in. Passed a fella sitting in the middle of a trail with his crossbow 250 yds from the parking lot. Absolute debacle getting up this tree. 6 branches to climb around, only used 3 sticks so I’m guessing I’m only 13’ish up, which should be plenty. Hunting some public again, I’m setup in a crab apple tree between an oak flat and a still green bean field. I like being elevated rather than on the ground here, I can see substantially more. This trail intersection I’m on is pretty beat up and the wind is ideal for this setup - I think. Good luck to anyone else out.

Crossbows totally suck in a tree stand.

Not having any other experience i haven't noticed that much a pain with mine. Though i do recommend NOT dropping the crank out of the stand until AFTER you cock the crossbow. Did that in my climber, THAT SUCKED

It’s just a new process. It’ll take a while too get used too it.

Uneventful evening, not a single sighting. Not losing hope for this property just yet.

It’s very similar to Ron and I. We started bow hunting with our Bear Whitetails we got for Christmas around 1977-78 mostly hunting on the ground. I started my xbow hunting last year and he this year both due to shoulder injury issues. I’m going to try shooting my bow again but will probably use xbow if I can’t hold my draw long enough with my bow. Sucks gettin old. Lol

Biggest thing to realize is that you aren't blened by the tree behind you anymore. Those limbs stick out to the side. So be very selectable about your movement.

We seen 11 tonight 6 being bucks. And Cooper finally got to itch that trigger finger. Made an absolute perfect shot at 22 yards. And those g5 mega meats put a hole in them. We almost doubled but the big 7 stayed out 2 far for me to shoot at him in low light. Savannahs turn to fill a buck tag now.
