One BB in 9 hours. I've now seen just that one deer in 17 hours of hunting in the last week. On the year the farm appeared to be its best habitat wise, I'm having my worst year ever by about every measure. Something has to give, or change because I'm not sure how many more seasons like this I'll tough out after this one.

That's just how deer hunting goes! You might go out in the morning and the biggest deer of your life step in front of you! It's always changing

Had three come through around 4 but in line with a house over the hill so was hoping they'd circle the field , they decided the short walk to the corn was better . Seen 18 at the Dr's property on the other side of the fence , it's a haven for them over there untouched plenty of corn thick bedding and no hunting had a hammer of a 10 point come within 60 yards so that was at least cool . Stuck with mandatory overtime till 430 every day this week so won't make it back out till the weekend . Good luck to everyone this week

I got skunked but between my uncles and cousin we ended up seeing 40+ as a group. No shots fired.

Zaleski— windy/ cold and nothing seen. Only heard a few far away shots. Hunted til 11.
Waterloo— windier/ colder. Nothing seen. Heard 2 shots 12-dark. Didn’t see very many hunters out either.

Gun season does seem different these days with the lack of shots heard. But that cold west wind today did take me back to the 1970s when it seemed like it was always cold as hell during gun week! 
and I would freeze my ass off but would never tell dad it was to cold to hunt for fear of being left at home. 
. Remember we didn't have all the nice high tech layering garments available like we have today or hot hands and nice boots.

Got my deer skinned and hanging. Might hit it again tomorrow morning, but feeling a little greedy. Our camp was pretty successful today, 5 out of 7 of us killed a deer so no complaints there. The complaint I do have is fuggin burrs. Spent 20 min picking these off my shit when I got home and definitely didn’t get them all
Sat with my daughter tonight. Saw one smaller buck at like 250 yards which was fun to watch. Then we had one doe that almost cooperated to give her a shot but there was too much commotion trying to get her set up for it and the doe skittered away. Had a few others but it was getting dark enough she couldn't find them in her scope.
Oh well..... (almost) all the fun but none of the mess for her.
The cute and memorable part was as she was getting set up in the second does that come in she said "my legs are shaking in so excited and nervous! " I love it!

Sat in a stand on our farm today from 6:30am till 12:10 got out to eat and warm my dang feet up. Lol
Was back in at 1:25 till dark.
passed a nice up comer at 7:10-7:25 and 4 does from 4:15- dark over the fresh 150 pounds of corn we dump yesterday morning. Lol
It’s the first corn dumped on our farm since last season. Last year we ran some corn all season and we noticed a big drop off in daytime movement and movement in general this year. So we figured we’d better do something to draw and hold for a shot. All 5 deer hung up at our spread about 70 yards out giving me chip shots at all of them.

19 and feels like 5. That should get the deer moving. Hunters too. Going to need to focus on not fidgeting today if you're out there. Dress warm. Be safe. Shoot straight.
