I'm so jealous of you guys getting out! I'm going to dump corn after lunch service, with high hopes we will get a bunch of snow on Sunday - enough to cancel baseball camp! I might be self-serving in my wish, but you always want to go just one more time!

I'm hoping! I didn't make it out this morning, gotta funeral to attend tomorrow morning. Sunday morning is my last hope if we don't get a blizzard in to free up Sunday evening. This unimportant life non-sense getting in the way of hunting is for the birds!

Bittersweet... Great hunt, no so great ending.

Had a shed buck come in around 4:00. Three doe followed suit. Mama got spooky with the swirling wind. They ran off.

Around 5:00 another shed buck came in with a 3 point. They fed through.

5:15 the two 10's I've been chasing came out. I first saw them at about 75 yards. They slowly came my way. The smaller of the two walked past me at 10 yards. As he walked past, the bigger is at 30. I drew when I could. Smaller one still feeding, bigger one froze behind a big tree and some saplings. Only shot is a gut shot. I wait... he's not moving... I slowly lean forward to try and get a lane... he BOLTS! I'm not sure if he caught movement or scent. But, he was gone in a flash. I quickly try to get on the smaller one, but he took off as soon as he saw the bigger one run. They hung out where I first saw them for about 15 more minutes and then walked off.

I felt like crying.

Sorry to hear that cotty. It sucks to have a shooter that close and not finish. You made the right choice though. It takes a lot of restraint to hold off on that shot. A lot of people would have took the shot knowing it was to far back.

Deer were out like crazy tonight at dusk. Peoples' front lawns, along the road by the Country Club, just off the road in town, all over. Too bad these are all places people cannot gain access to hunt them. They were quite visible though. Was hoping you guys hitting the woods might have had some action and cashed in. Cotty and Customizer- your stories bummed me out. Sorry to hear it. Glad you guys and Hoyt and others were able to make it out. Best of luck to you all over the weekend.
