Well boys, has the best encounter of the year tonight. I got home from work around 4:20. I checked my mail, then as I was pulling into my driveway I saw what looked like a deer bedded in my woods up front. So I got closer, and it was a buck. I saw that he looked nice so I just pulled into the garage and shut the door right behind me. I went inside and looked out the window to see he was still sitting there. So I hustled and threw on my gear and headed outside. I went to the back corner of my house and let out a few grunts. He stood up, and was definitly interested. He walked in front of my house, and headed to the opposite side I was standing at. So I hustled over there and got behind a pile of wood I had in my side yard (thank goodness I'm a procrastinater and haven't stacked it yet) he walked from my left to my right, literally 20 yards behind that pile of wood. I came to full draw and eased around the pile of wood and there he was. I "brapp"ed a couple of times, but he wouldn't stop to give me a shot. All along there were some does behind my house and he was headed to them, and wouldn't think about stopping to give me a shot. I had a few small windows I could've maybe tried to let one fly..but I couldn't bring myself to fling one at a walking deer in some brush. I watched him as he walked away into my woods and pushed around the doe for a while. They eventually wondered off over the hill. It just goes to show ya, you never know when you'll get an opportunity at a buck. I'm kinda kicking myself for not trying to squeeze off a shot, I keep replaying it in my mind. He was only 50 yards from my house when I drew on him, and 2 yards from me, and never had any idea I was there. He was a solid 130" 8. Maybe mid to upper 130's. I'm sitting on my back corner where they went over the hill now, hopefully they'll make a loop back!
