I hear ya, im nto that good... My opinion is you always need the right tool for the right job. My rifle is not a f-class tool. great rig for steel and yotes and definately wacking a deer and such at 1000yds, but trying to put 1 hole in the paper at 1000 yds, i'd need alot more then what i have, optics included forsure... Thats a whole another animal and that woudl be expensive to start over. I'm not one of these Tacticoool dumb asses with 5 rifles and scope combos costs $7-8000 each and driving a 1987 buick regal living in the basement of my parent house..lol... don't get me wrong i enjoy shooting alot, especially when im having a good day, but you know you cant spend all your money on crap like that buying a full custom rifle and a Schmidt and Bender scope unless you have deep pockets or whatever.... Your don't need to spend big bucks to shoot F-class. Your rifle would be fine. I know guys that start in F-class with factory rifles and you won't see many S&B scopes at local shoots. Don't worry about what the other guy is shooting, go and shoot against yourself. Have fun and learn a little at the same time.

I hear ya... thats kinda what i do now.... The scope is everything to see that far to hit the Xring.... did forgt that for F-Class target size is a whole lot bigger....
800, 900,1000 Yard Targets
LR - "Target, Rifle, Competition, Long Range."
X ring 10.00
10 ring 20.00
9 ring 30.00
8 ring 44.00
7 ring 60.00
6 area 72 x 72 square

Above sizes are NRa targets which i believe they use for FClass... hell 20" ring for the 10ring i guess i could certainly see it with my 20x.. I might have to think bout this now...:)

Not sure where you got the target info but the 1000 yd F-class 10 ring is 1 minute see pg 8 http://www.nrahq.org/compete/rules/rul_hpr_07.pdf

Either way your 1/2 minute Savage would be competitive if you do your part. The best part is shooting with others is you can learn from those that are good. Heck you can even learn for those that aren't so good, just don't do what they do. :smiley_bril:

i double checked it and that was posted for a long range NRA.. so im not sure what it was for now.. oh well.... found your info... yup...10" and 5" x-ring... 10" is still pretty small for 1000yds with only a 20X varible scope...
Still doable but a straight power would be much better... I hear ya, i'll look into it... I might try it a couple of times before hunting season....
