Apparently I'm not the only one with this issue, so that tells me there's some sort of manufacturer defect. I still don't see what your statement has to do with my saw issues, I never took it to the dealer I got it from to have that issue fixed.

The way I took it, you did take it to them. I guess I misunderstood.

Thanks for the input. I went tonight and looked at a stihl 311 and 361. The 361 has a better feel to it and it will take up to a 24" bar but i typically only run 20". I like the idea of not 'maxing' the saw out from the get go. I do believe i will buy it this weekend.
Speaking of sharpening we bought one of these about four years ago.
its a timber tuff electric model. We keep a tally of the chains we shsrpen. Between dad myself and his two friends we have done over 100. The sharpener has more than paid for itself.

Nathan- Before you buy, call Steve Myers Service in Cridersville. Ask for Greg. Tell him I mentioned the "used" chainsaws to you. I am trying to remember if it was a 361 or 291 I saw on their display. I thought it was a 361. He got in a big lot of "used" equipment from Stihl. Some were demos. Some were carried around by sales reps to show dealers. Some were used for training and schools. They took them apart and put back together to show techs how to work on them. Many have never been used. They carry full factory warranty. Most are about $100 off new. Might be worth a call. I don't think you are too far from Cridersville. If you head up this way look me up. This is my stomping grounds.
