Shops around here wanted something like $10 to sharpen and I'm not good with the files; never can seem to get a consistent angle. I don't care much for the electric ones. I've more than paid for mine already but yeah, it's not cheap.

Thanks for the input. I went tonight and looked at a stihl 311 and 361. The 361 has a better feel to it and it will take up to a 24" bar but i typically only run 20". I like the idea of not 'maxing' the saw out from the get go. I do believe i will buy it this weekend.
Speaking of sharpening we bought one of these about four years ago.
its a timber tuff electric model. We keep a tally of the chains we shsrpen. Between dad myself and his two friends we have done over 100. The sharpener has more than paid for itself.

You've never had oiler issues with your 455?

I've had it in the shop twice after I couldn't seem to keep it working and apparently they can't keep it oiling either.
There is a guy in Mt gilead ohio that is very knowledgeable he owns bills Saw Shop has been nothing but helpful and hasn't charged me a dime yet

It won't be an issue whenever you are ready to max it out. Not sure on the 311. The 361 handles 25" bar with no issues. Like any of them, if they get pinched you are in trouble. If straight cutting without getting in a bind you will be just fine.

To what? What's that have to do with the oiler issue?

It's an easy fix, for someone that knows what they are doing. Had it been fixed the first time, you'd be happy with the saw. But you got bad service and are now upset with the saw. Doesn't matter...it is what it is now.

Apparently I'm not the only one with this issue, so that tells me there's some sort of manufacturer defect. I still don't see what your statement has to do with my saw issues, I never took it to the dealer I got it from to have that issue fixed.
