Should’ve heard all the stories here at work this morning. Laughable how many experts and know-it-alls are around. Then one guy says “hey, that’s your area, you know the family right?” “Yup, and the Air Force gave me my own plane” and I walked away. I couldn’t imagine getting caught up in the middle of something like this. Best wishes to the family. As if enough wasn’t going on, now they have the entire country judging them. Sad

I know many people like this, now I am curious did the parent say tempted because they thinking drinking is a sin? The reason I ask is that view of alcohol being forbidden often drives underage kids to sneak the forbidden stuff.

Yes but it could happen with any values that parents hold. Madeline Murray O’hair’‘s kid became a devout christian and a minister. Ronald Reagan’s kids are very liberal.

Im willing to bet she reaches out to somebody in the family within six months. Once the bloom is off the rose and the rent has to be paid and savings are gone...life has a way of kicking people in the ass.

Any word on if she has contacted the family? No matter what is going on, it is not fair to keep the parents in the dark and just ghost them and disappear.

This event brought up discussions with my 3 sons, aged 25, 21, & 14. I told them if they were pissed and wants to go, just have enough respect to tell us, then I also told them that we are always there for them no matter what.

I am sure her parents want to know why and want to help her anyway they can. The not knowing has to be killing them.

Read an article this morning that was an interview with the sheriff. She is with the individual pictured who she met online and is from out of state. It said she was unaware of the search when they found her, she left the car because it was her mothers, and left her phone because she knew it could be tracked.. Which coincidentally tracking her phone is exactly what mom did 40 minutes after she left the house and wasn't back on time...

Have no clue if it is true or not. There have been some saying that she left a note. Haven't seen anything in the press releases that mentioned anything so I lean to the no note was left side.

If she did then I could understand why she would have thought they weren't looking for her.

If it isn't true then it would be naive at best not to believe that they were looking for her.

Sounds like there’s a ton of BS between the parents and her, I’m not sure I believe she thought no one was looking for her and the authorities weren’t involved. Just my opinion based on dealing with kids over the years.
This is all their mess now and there’s a lot they’re going too have too wade through too get back too some normality. I’d hate too be around that first meeting... Talk about that stress level....

Let me reword a little bit, geez. Tough crowd.

I believe that she had no idea a nation wide search was happening. No shit she knew someone was looking, she just bugged out. But I don’t think she knew a little adult from little old greenfield Ohio was going to grab national headlines.

How many dumbass things have y’all done at that age? Without thinking ahead. Part of learning. Being a dumbass is part of growing into an adult.

I see this girl as the victim here. Maybe that’s my mistake, but that’s how I see this. I once wanted a new life myself. Joined the Air Force on the way home from work one day. Didn’t talk to anyone about it until I told them I was leaving.

I still ain’t mad at Maddie for what happened, maybe because I get it.

No argument here. Other than the inference that you're no longer a dumbass when you grow up. Need I remind you of how you introduced yourself around these parts?
