I knew a guy once that used a reverse osmosis machine to run the raw sap through first. It would pull out a large portion of the water so he didn't have to boil as much.

I always added butter to reduce foaming but that cool to knowProbably to reduce foaming. A pea sized piece of lard in the boil will do the same thing.
